See? We actually *can* agree on something.

He was wrong, and fucked up, and its silly not to admit a mistake. We ask that from adults in our culture, but not our President?

It was a mistake people died form, and the huge political divide in this country would be most healed if that simple gesture were made.

Thats my only point. Thanks for the edjumacation.

Pete, you and I spent two days in a truck together. Of all of the people on this site who I might piss off, you ought to know me better.

Of course, you were sleeping most of the way...

I know dude, that's exactly why you've got me so damn confused. I seriously can't tell if you're skrewin w/ me or being an ass, especially when you're goin from "Tell that to my dead neighbor's son!" to "Awww, Petie " That's about as extreme opposite ends of the spectrum as you can get.

I still don't know wtf is goin on, that's why I stay outta C.T.

Red is right. The Dems are once again bringing up the same tired old WMD argument. We all know that they haven't got a single original thought or idea, so why not bring up the WMD topic, again!!!!! BTW, what were the weapons used to kill thousands of Kurds? How about those SCUD missiles launched into Isreal? What about the mobile chem/bio labs? I guess those were not destructive enough to be labeled as "WMD". C'mon!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think we can all agree that Saddam was/is a tyrant who mercilessly kills and tortures people. That being said, doesn't he qualify as a WMD himself?

yes ok agreed...

now we let's also agree that it is a lame self-serving point lol

and no one will benefit from except you may be able to sleep better....

ever think there maybe other reasons why he isnnt admitting it? like maybe that would send the wrong message to the people we are fighting... dont answer the question cuz you dont know... but neither do I ..

so at the end of the day i ask you again....what good comes out of an apology?

will soldiers stop dying after he says it? will it make it all better like when mommy kissed your boo boo?

LOL....this is *the* last post I will ever make in CT. Seriously.

People are dying when there were other options. Its true they're in the military, but they're people too, and I dont think there is any reason for them to die unless its a last resort. I dont think Bush saw it as a last resort, and it pisses me off, and I think a real leader would smooth out the worldwide anger about the whole situation by admitting his mistakes and working to repair them.

All that other shit doesn't matter (at least not as much). We can "armchair quaterback" all day long, but until the "leader of the free world" starts looking at the reality of the situation, which is that he rushed us into a ginormous clusterfuck, people will keep dying. My opinion is that the first step is to say, "Hey, invading Iraq, when we did, was a mistake. Now I'd like to help these people, so what do I have to do to make up for this mistake?"

I would just ask that those of you with the "Freedom Isn't Free" and "Hey, they volunteered for the military" mentality think for a second about these people on a more personal level. They aren't the corpses in camo you see on the news. They were somebody's child, somebody's father, somebody's best friend.

what would the other choices have been? Not invade and do more of the same like we had for the past 12 years waiting for something to happen, hoping nothing does...ignore intelligence that you depend on...ignore the cries to do something from 90% of congress....ingnor ethe cries from the people that elected yout are you nuts....who in their right mind would do that...

more bullshit monday morning QB partisan games....f u c k i n LAME!!!

again you offer no other plans other then...."waaaa I dont like whats' going on now...WWAAAAAAAAAAA"

so basically business as usual...

1. WMD keeping coming up becuase it was the justification for the war. The right refuses to acknowldge what the implications are of a war waged on a faulty premise. If someone goes to trial becuase of a murder in self-defense, you dont toss out the motive once you get in front of the jury do you? That is exactlly what the right is trying to do by mere dismisall of the WMD argument.

2. Saddam is an asshole. he deserved to be taken out of power. however, there are many other people and nations like his in this world. So why are we choosing are battles? if we are going to be freedom fighters, why don't we just start taking out every asshole dictator in the world? The answer is obvious; we can't. That being so, there needs to be reasonable justification as why we pick asshole X over asshole Y to removed from power. in this case, there was no reasonable justification. when people die without reason, there is usually some explaing to do...which has not happened yet.

That's where the political reasons come into play that no one wants to admit... power, oil, money etc. It's a cold fact, but it's true. WMD's, Iraqi Freedom, Saddam's insanity are all the public reasons for justification of going into Iraq... yes, those are the same justifications we could use for other countries, but invading other countries wouldn't necessarily get us those "side benefits". Obviously the White House doenst' want to admit that, they'll say it's just a result of war, not a reason, but it's a few more of those little reasons to add to the list of things the US is getting out of it, plain & simple. IMO it doesn't take away from the fact that it's something that needed to be done, but the White House doesn't want to make it seem as though there were any MORE controversial motives for everyone to pick apart.
