Did anyone see that we released 500 Iraqi prisoners this week because it was the end of Ramadan?

And that we had released 1000 at the beginning of Ramadan?

WTF were they in prison for if we can just let them go? And if they really were dangerous and/or terrorists, how can we just let them go for a religious holiday???? If they were mistakes they should have been let go a long time ago, locking up thousands of people who don't belong in jail does not win us any friends over there. If they were dangerous put them back in jail.

Anyone actually see an explanation for why on earth they would do this?

I see it as 'political cash'. Try and regain some 'goodwill'. Doubt that it works though, the prisoners are prolly laughing the whole way home.
