The reason they are so upset is because they do not allow depiction of Muhammed period.

Even if you paint a picture glorifying Muhammed that is still blasphemy and they would want to kill you for it.

It's just like Eastern Orthodox Catholics do not allow statues of Jesus, only 2-dimensional images, whereas Roman Catholics have statues. Only Catholics don't seem to kill each other over this.

Still the whole thing insane, I wish the rest of the world would just stand up and tell them to grow up and stop killing each other.

that would be all fine and good if this is the first time someone has made a picture of him...do google image search...where was teh outrage and riots when those pics where made...

Arab countries are criticized in the book for not encouraging education, innovation and free thinking. Oil money has allowed them to survive without ever having to innovate. It's great if you are an Arab with oil ties but sucks if you aren't. By excluding half their population from getting a decent education and keeping the poor extremely poor, they have created a perfect place for folks to find religion the only outlet. When the religious leaders promote violence and the followers have nothing to live for, you have a whole generation of would-be suicide bombers.

We really need to stop buying oil. I am so glad Bush is pushing hard in that direction, but still think he's a putz. Imagine if all the money we've spent (and will spend) in Iraq was instead used to install solar cells, batteries, and DC to AC inverters in hundreds of thousands of houses in the sunbelt... Islam is peaceful religion, just as Christianity is a religion which purports to accept everyone as they are. The problem is not the religion per se, but people's fanatical interpriation of how religion is supposed to manifest in everyday life...

I dont hate muslims. I hate fanatics. Islamic, Christian, Communist, or GSX-ist (Yammha fanatics are OK, however). Religion and Suzuki seem to breed the worst of them. Both should be wiped out (am I being too fanatical?)
