Bipartisan Worry On U.S. Ports Deal, holy shit balls..

Ok now THIS would be an excellent time to bash Bush...

I have always said there are plenty of reasons to bash our president...i just do not agree with the kool-aid drinking left's :bsflag talking points and propaganda..

You need to choose your battles and hear is one of them...this is just insane...there are PLENTY of American companies that can and should do this job...

One of my biggests beefs is that he has not done enough to protect us at home from terrorism....between this and the fact he will not lock down the borders. Both are just insane.....i still feel we are doing the right things over seas to battle terrorism but what good is any of that when people come and go as they please over our borders and there is a 90% chance that a dirty bomb sent to this country through the ports will get to it's destination....

There's plenty of issues we could worry about and things that ought to bug everyone.

For example...

Why should we have to let the government eavesdrop on our telephone conversations when the government is not closing the borders and is allowing UAE to take over some of our ports?

Putting this latest thing in perspective with the other events and choices is where it gets annoying. Is snooping our telephone calls really more important then controlling our ports & borders? There are lots of possible terrorist attacks that wouldn't involve telephone calls into/out of the US at all. They could set the whole attack up overseas, bring weapons in through the Canadian or Mexican border, or right into one of our ports, and just carry out the attacks without ever having to make phone calls or any of the other things the government is monitoring.

Pretty lame knee-jerk-angry-white-guy w/pickup truck response there.

I mentioned a very specific thing:

Which Democratic presidents implemented wiretapping without approval, and fought for it when they got caught?

You already said you are angry at the Administration about this. How can you be happy about things like the Patriot Act and wiretapping and look past crap like not securing the borders or ports?

I am not saying a Democrat would be better, but it is CLEAR where Bush stands. He will "protect" us from terrorism (which is a trumped up item which we should not be afraid of) at the cost of our civil liberties, but in no way does protecting American Citizens come before protecting corporate profits.

The foreign "war on terrorism" is fine because it is huge $$ for all the corporations involved.

Cause you know securing the borders and ports would hurt profits and you can't have that.

All I know is that Jimmie Cahtah is 'for' the proposal. That means, by default, I'm against it.

This is just insane that he's going to fight congress on this.

When we were posting yesterday I hadn't yet seen that he and Bill Frist were getting pissy at each other over this.

It is just sooo weird that Bush wants to reward UAE when practically everyone else is worried.

Why the hell does UAE deserve to be "rewarded" for their behavior. Maybe we call them an ally and they are not Iran but they still seem a little shady to be running ports.

UAE may be better then Iran, Saddam's Iraq, and Saudi Arabia, but it barely qualifies as a Democracy.

Regular people don't get to vote. There are 7 Sheiks that rule the individual Emirates. The federal government is chosen by the Sheiks.

That's besides the point, even if they were a perfect democracy if they haven't answered for any assistance to Al Qaeda, involvement in 9/11, or otherwise harboring terrorists they shouldn't be running anything in the US.

They have all kinds of other things going on just like Saudi Arabia. Good luck trying to be anything but a Muslim there.

Of course according to the CIA the real thing that would suck about being in UAE is it's a sausage fest, 2 men for every woman. That's gotta suck, maybe we should cut them a break for that, but they have kids, the women must run away to other countries or something.

Couple of things on this issue..
The carlysle group brokered the deal and got paid a lot of money for the transaction from Dubai Port World.
Treasury sec. John Snow said he didn't know about it but his company was bought by D.P.W.
also this is supposed to have a mandatory 45 day period before it can be signed off on , it was signed off in 22 days by the treas. sec.
Security wise Dubai Port World is in fact responsible for security along with Federal agency's and in fact gets Taxpayers dollars to help with security.
Dubai Port World are responsible for the containers contents before shipping to america and we have to take their word for it that everything is on the up and up
Last but not least Dubbya's younger brother recently sold his company to a subsidiary of Dubai Port World.

The president said he had no knowledge of the deal ..
so why defend it so adamantly..
I really believe that this deal is a mistake and not just politically but from a national security issue too.
We the people are being tossed aside in favor of big money and multi national corporations who have their interest's at heart and not those of the country

look, Bush knows what he's doing!

let the towel heads control the ports!

BUT----keep them on double secret probation with the Coast Guard actually controlling things! that way when the terrorists try some shit, we will already know about it + we can trace the shitstains back to where they come from + we can immediately call in a massive airstrike---- erasing them from exsistance!!!

damn, that sounds like a cool movie script---hey, none of you fuckers better steal my idea!

I think it's very interesting that suddenly NOW the liberals are concerned with national security and terrorism. Besides, this whole deal is right up the dem's alley! We need to put these people in charge because we don't want to hurt their feelings! Every single democrat I know has always harped on 'what the rest of the world thinks of us'. Now we get a chance to show some good faith and the left is up in arms. What are you worried about? I thought Islam was a religion of Peace?

Yeah, but a business deal is one thing. Going to war with a country is another. Giving a country the ability to survive is a big difference than saying yes to a deal that is business. Business = money. People don't die when you turn a deal down. A company gets pissed and stockholders loose .25% points. I guess we all know what is more important in the end to the Bush administration.

I suppose if they didn't offer rediculous amounts of money to us we would want to "Turn the towlies into glass", right?

Blame 9/11! Also forget where the terrorists and money came from for 9/11! Bomb Iraq for the role they played but leave the countries where the terrorists came from and were funded through alone! They didn't do anything!

"If you're not with us, you're against us", right?????

Dare I use the term "flip-flopper"?

Keep Backing President Bush Blindly: KBBBB! It's for me!
