Back to whatever I was doing.

Taken from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services website itself: http://uscis.gov/graphics/howdoi/PermRes.htm#rights

Read the paragraph of what RIGHTS a permanent resident DO have when living in the US.

yes, an notice those rights are conditional on a certain performance on your part, you don't meet the conditions, you can be deported, that means they are really not rights, cause they can be taken away

If I were in your situation, I would prolly retain my canadian citizenship, in the event you get fed up with the US, you can always go back

voting is important when it comes to things like school board, you vote is your say in how your child gets educated

You're probably gonna argue this one also, but I CAN keep my Canadian citizenship, even if I become american. Simple, because even tho I would become a citizen of the US and they request that I give up my canadian citizenship, Canada DO NOT recognize this US law, and they will never take away my citizenship in my country. I made my research on this, AND I spoke with immigration officers and lawyers. My husband is both American and Canadian, and I will be too.

I understand what you're saying, Randy. But that's not the most accurate way to describe it. Even we 'Americans' can lose rights. Ever served time for a felony conviction?

Mebbe I didn't read through it close enough. But I didn't see you make mention of deportation, just rights vs. priveledges...

Skipping back to topic real quick...

France has some pretty serious issues with that, 25% of 18-25 yr olds are unemployed because of there job laws. Which are as long as your hired you pretty much cant get fired as long as you show up and dont shoot up the place. Which makes companies very timid over hiring young ppl. It's illegal to work over 45 hours for an employer, plus they have a 35 hour work week. Add on the fat pensions they get after retirement and you have an entire country that's digging a hole, and sadly if something doesnt change their economy will just collapse... This new law was supposed to make it easier for companies to fire new employees during a 2 yr trial period, which would lower unemployment of younger ppl. But for some reason they took it as an insult and rioted...how stuck up and privileged can you get?
