More Rioting over job guarantees

Or hell anywhere in the EU. Every problem we have with competing with Asia sounds like it is 100x worse for them.

e.x. let's see what happens to VW.

We could be headed in the same direction. Have you seen the massive demonstrations, all across our county, of the ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS protesting immigration reform? I guess this is what we get for ignoring the problem and letting it fester all this time. Of course, there are many among us who have been begging our legislators to do something about it for many years.
Now, we are faced with a very big problem that can no longer be ignored. I hope both sides can come to a reasonable solution before rioting begins, here in our country.

The thing is the illegals can't vote (unless there is voting corruption).

So at least if we want to vote them down they have no say in the matter.

I don't think the illegals are anywhere near the problem the European labor laws are becoming. We joke about it with the guys on our team in Italy and the UK but it is a really serious problem since it is almost impossible to lay off or fire a worker there.

Personally I have hope we're going to come to a sensible solution to deal with the illegals. They need to stay, but they need to be taxed, made to follow the law, and paid a fair wage.

I'm not sure if you realize this or not, but even legal immigrants that are permanent residents can vote -- you have to be a citizen. So although I am here legally, work and pay taxes... I still can't vote! Fuckers

They should send all the illegals out on a fucking rail, though. No amnesty for you, one year!

Funny how times have changed... way back when people used to ask me what kinda name "Gaboriault" was i used to say "French" & leave off the "Canadian"... now i make damn sure to add that on the end

I also remember wanting to call my 3rd grade teacher a stupid bitch cuz she was telling me it's Italian, not French Canadian

Your dads side of the family is French-Canuck'ish from Quebec too!? Wow, small world! I've met a few of my great aunts and uncles from up there, they all speak French. Go figure.

my mom was a frog, my grandparents immigrated from eastern townships in 20's

my dads ancestors were in france at one time, but they invaded england in 1066. which makes them originally vikings that invaded france before that

Oreo....you were born in the US? Then your american, not french! LOL

RandyO....I'll surely be naturilized someday, but not for now. I just don't have that kind of money right now (about $500 to apply). My husband's boss has been living here for about 25 years now, he is still a permanent resident, his wife also, and both their kids are americans, they were born here.

Unless you want to be able to vote, it's not a necessecity to be naturilized. I have all the same rights AND obligations as any other citizen of this country. Even if I was to be naturilized, I wouldn't vote. I never voted once in my own country. I hate politics THAT MUCH.

no, you don't have the same rights you don't have rights at all, you have priviliges

you have no right to have a say on what goes on, voting citizens
could vote to take your what you think are your rights away from you, thats why you only have the privilige of living here as if you had rights the rights that a citizen has in our constitution is only given to you by laws passed by citizens.

voting is not politics, if you think it is, you do not know what voting is about

If you hate voting that much, you should be voting to change it. Voting is not equal to politics. What basis do you have to be against voting?

I am not against voting for whoever want to do it and know WHY they do it. My take on this is, I know nothing about politics, and I have no interest in it. So why should I vote for the next President without knowing WHY I'm voting for him? Just because I like his face better than the other guy? Not a good reason to vote. Voting has nothing to do with politics? I guess I'm lost here...voting for a new President is politics to me. Voting for the next mayor or council or whatever you call all these people running the cities and states and countries IS politics to me. I don't watch it on TV, I don't listen to it on the radio, I have no interest in all those voting campaigns, etc. so I stay OUT OF IT. Voting out of ignorance? Why? Because that's what I am, ignorant about all this stuff. And as I said before, I didn't even vote in my OWN country. So it has nothing to do with the fact that I live here in the US. My husband doesn't even vote either, and he's American, born here.

Here we go again. I'm out of this conversation, as I KNOW it will lead me NOWHERE with you guys. I'll only get insulted again.

Back to whatever I was doing.

Taken from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services website itself: http://uscis.gov/graphics/howdoi/PermRes.htm#rights

Read the paragraph of what RIGHTS a permanent resident DO have when living in the US.
