Mark Foley...wtf

It is amazing that we the public can happily keep electing pervs.

It is also amazing that a high ranking government official doesn't know there is no privacy on a computer network

Barely anyone in elected government positions has science/engineering know-how.

One reason why technology laws and the laws governing many types of businesses are so horrible.

Our government is mostly lawyers.. they stick with what they're good at. Making complicated messes!

I agree with all above.
This guy is trying to blame his perversion on being molested as a kid and alcohol. When are people going to take responsibility for their own actions ? The guy has MAJOR issues and he needs to be punished for his lack of self control. There are no excuses for that kind of behavior.

Your Honor we can't try Tom Foley for anything.

First off, he is a Congressman. He deserves special treatment.

Second, he's admitted he's Gay. We all know all Gay men are pedophiles, so he really isn't responsible for his actions. No one has a choice, if god decides they are going to be Gay, they're born gay, and a pedophile.

Third, he's an alcoholic. He wasn't in control of his behavior.

Fourth, this young man & his parents were asking for it. Who in this day and age would let their child waste their time working as a Congressional page? He should have been out being an normal boy, playing football, throwing rocks at cars, etc..

The real enemy's hear are God for making Homosexual deviants, the Liquor companies for foisting their awful products on a population that can't handle drinking, and the parents for allowing their son to be in such a pathetic position.

So let my client go, and let's get God & the Liquor companies up on the stand. While we're at it let's blame the parents.

I rest my case.

First thing I in no way condone his actions but lets stop and take a look at what he has been accused of doing.

He had cyber sex via IM's with a willing 18 year old. Not a 16 year old. As of today there are 54 separate IM's back and forth. A Freak You Bet! A Pedophile No. What 30,40,50 something out there would not consider having sex with a 18-19 year old if given the opportunity. Does this make you a Pedophile?

There is no evidence as far as I know that he has touched anyone in any form that would be considered inappropriate. Why did he resign? don't know humiliated maybe. Maybe he did do something. We will see but until the evidence is on the board. Calling him a Pedophile is incorrect.

I'm not 30, 40, or 50 .. but at 27 i can assure you i have no desire to have sex with a 18-19 year old boy..

XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX THU OCT 5 2006 2:53:48 ET XXXXX

CLAIM: FILTHY FOLEY ONLINE MESSAGES WERE PAGE PRANK GONE AWRY
**World Exclusive**
**Must Credit the DRUDGE REPORT**

According to two people close to former congressional page Jordan Edmund, the now famous lurid AOL Instant Message exchanges that led to the resignation of Mark Foley were part of an online prank that by mistake got into the hands of enemy political operatives, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.

According to one Oklahoma source who knows the former page very well, Edmund, a conservative Republican, goaded an unwitting Foley to type embarrassing comments that were then shared with a small group of young Hill politicos. The prank went awry when the saved IM sessions got into the hands of political operatives favorable to Democrats.

The primary source, an ally of Edmund, adamantly proclaims that the former page is not a homosexual. The prank scenario was confirmed by a second associate of Edmund. Both are fearful that their political careers will be affected if they are publicly brought into the matter.

The prank scenario only applies to the Edmund IM sessions and does not necessarily apply to any other exchanges between the former congressman and others.

The news come on the heels that Edmund has hired former Timothy McVeigh attorney, Stephen Jones.

Developing...

The Parties should make there f*d up candidates take a lie detector test before they are ever on the ballot.

Bed bug principle
There is never 1 bed bug.

If only these little bs IM were to be found I am sure that
Mark Foley (not Tom I screwed up) would have not committed political Hari Kari.

I will assume there is a felony offense that he hoped to avoid coming out by getting off the stage voluntarily

Don't worry if its really bad he will have an accident
