If Nancy Pelosi gets control of the House it will be defunded next year. Probably replaced by free bus tickets from Mexico City.

The fence is not a stupid thing, beet. We need to, at least, slow down the flood of illegals. I do, however, agree with your fining employers who hire illegals.

It's gotta stop at the employers. It's just bullshit to try it any other way.

We spend all this money on a fence, they will still get in, the employers still make a ton of money, and the illegals still don't pay taxes and drag the system down.

Nailing the employers and getting these people on legal employment would bring in money as opposed to spending huge amounts.

But heck if we have the money let's build a fence, let's just not do a half assed job. Do the whole border up and stick 20,000 troops and 50,000 video cameras on it. I'm sure there are plenty of guys who would like to come back from Iraq and defend the US instead of fighting for a bunch of ingrateful Iraqis who shoot at them every time their back is turned. I hear Mexico has implemented something like this on their southern border and has had some success. Maybe we can talk to Mexico and learn how to lock a border down from them. I'm sure they'd love to help us!

ok, this fence thing is an absurd political election tool. Here is why:

(1) the fence has only been approved to places below 10 degrees incline (or something like that). These means there will be large GAPS in the fence in some mountain and desert areas. If your going to spend that much money on the freaking thing, DONT DO IT HALF-ASSED.

(2) The funding for the fence has to be allocated by each subsequant congress. Hence, the thing may (a) never be built, and (2) if it is built, it could die out every election cycle.

Thus, this fence is more political form than concrete substance.

(Political Wingnuts: Please note that I have NOT said the CONCEPT of the fence is bad / good, only that means currently employed are absurd, as it has allowed politicians on either side of the fence (pun intended) to claim that they voted for X when it comes to election time, w/o having to deal with the fallout in any real way)
