Oh Kerry, you didn't!

Normally I steer clear of this sub-forum, but I can't believe what this guy said when addressing that school in California:

"students who don't study end up in Iraq"

He's backpeddling now trying to say his words were misconstrued.

This is what I don't like. These "slip ups" are great! They strike to the core of how this guy thinks. I will make a voting decision on a comment like this alone, regardless of a politicians opinions on taxes or healthcare plans or feelings about domestic or international issues. NEVER demean the military by saying armed services are flunkies when those kids in their teens and early twenties are facing that horror by no decision of their own. What does he have to say about the virtual rocket scientists (literally) that graduate West Point, or Annapolis, or the Air Force academy? I guess their futures aren't to bright because they served time in Iraq. What a pompous a$$. He should have known better since he is the self-proclaimed f@cking "hero" of Vietnam.

Commander in Chief Kerry...my a$$! The same goes for that other wannabe, Lady Hilary....what a joke that this is all the dems. can muster.

BTW, I vote independent if anyone feels this is a debate over republican vs. democrat...I also think Bush is an a$$hole.

From the associated press

His statement called Republicans "assorted right-wing nut jobs."

And at a hastily arranged news conference in Seattle, Kerry said: "I apologize to no one for my criticism of the president and of his broken policy."

Kerry said the comment in question was "a botched joke about the president and the president's people, not about the troops ... and they know that's what I was talking about."

It came during a campaign rally for California Democratic gubernatorial candidate Phil Angelides. Kerry opened his speech at Pasadena City College with several one-liners, saying at one point that Bush had lived in Texas but now "lives in a state of denial."

He then said: "You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."

That, Kerry said, was meant as a reference to Bush, not troops. Kerry said it is the president who owes U.S. soldiers an apology - for "a Katrina foreign policy" that misled the country into war in Iraq, failed to adequately study and plan for the aftermath, has not properly equipped troops and has expanded the terrorist threat.

The Massachusetts Democrat called the White House attack "a classic GOP textbook Republican campaign tactic" that reveals Republicans'"willingness to reduce anything in America to raw politics."

"I'm sick and tired of a bunch of despicable Republicans who will not debate real policy, who won't take responsibility for their own mistakes, standing up and trying to make other people the butt of those mistakes," he said. "It disgusts me that a bunch of these Republican hacks who've never worn the uniform of our country are willing to lie about those who did."

Everything is open to interpretation I guess.
Basically what it comes down to is that John Kerry has no business trying to make a joke, let alone a political one.

Interpet this as a joke.

Playing devils advocate,

Is it really that Kerry was talking about the troops directly when he stated do your home work or you'll get stuck in Iraq?

In my opinion Bush has not been strong enough or forceful enough in Iraq. (we should be kicking the shit out of that country, I say bring back carpet bombing)

Or is it something that we all have fallen into by believe the first reporter to put a different emphasis on certian words to change the meaning of what was said?

Time and time again, we believe what we are told without looking further into it.

I am not a devout Kerry supporter nor am I Bush supporter.

But I don't believe much of what I hear or read.

When elections come which one is really the lesser of two evils?

Just my .02 $

We all know what he "meant" by it. He meant to say that if you don't get educated, you end up like Bush is, screwin the pooch in a pile of shit.

He worded it to get attention. There is no way he would of been that nieve to think people wouldn't jump all over him for how he said it. Just stupid, that's all. And now he is getting what he wants which is press time. He wants to attack the white house any way he can. Unfortunately you can't even mistakingly bash the troops, that's just not something anyone should do, political or not. Sorry kerry, bad move on your part.

watch the video and tell me exactly watch he meant then....i heard it first on the radio and the lead up to that line was just as smarmy as the rest...and really comes through in his response..

he was on Imus this morning...he's a joke. I'm starting to think he did it on purpose so people would pay attention to him again....he won't agologize for saying it...won't say what he meant to say only that it was a shot at the W admin...then he attacks the republicans for calling him out on it...same old shit...and McCain is long time friend...Kerry asked him repeatedly to be his vice in 04(McCain is on the record saying this) and he is leading the charge for saying he needs to apologize...not some rabid right wing wacko....

Kerry is and always has been a piece of shit. He thinks he's better than everyone else and it shows by how he presents himself. I really don't get how the people of Mass. keep voting him and Fat Teddy into the Senate over and over again despite their constant blunders. That's good politics there in Mass.; they've got an alcoholic murderer and a lying, gold-digging moron representing the people.
We need another revolution.......

Funny

The libs are the 1st ones to say that offense is a judgement of the offended.

Minorities, women, handicapped if they feel slighted they have legal recourse.

THIS POS won't say sorry that his remarks caused offense intentional or not.
