I hope if you're ever wrongly arrested you spit in the face of your defense attorney and make sure he knows you think he's a scumbag!

Painting him as evil for being a defense attorney was one of the stupidest tactics Healey could possibly have used, I'm sure it backfired. It's just astounding anyone could actually have believed it.

Well, my personal favorite was the, "We can't elect Deval b/c then the state will be run by all democrats and that is not conducive to a fair democratic process"

By the same logic, her and Romey must then also have been advocating that we all vote for democrats on the national level, b/c having congress and the president be of the same party...

It's too bad people only like to use "logic" when it is on their side...and in doing so often it makes them look really dumb, esp when it is as transparent as the above example.

Well I disagree with you there..

Voting for mixed government or advocating mixed government are way less stupid.

Anytime you say someone is evil based on their profession, etc.. you're way out there.

But lots us don't think monopoly control by one party is a good thing.

Funniest thing about the national elections is now G.W. is going to get to push his ideas about immigration reform through... to the chagrin of conservatives! The President is a liberal on immigration and now he's going to have a legislative branch that supports him.

(Personally I'm not sure that is a good thing though.)

My point was soley consistancy, not the merit of the argument itself. There is no way Romey (who was a cheif advancer of that argument) was going to suggest to the nation that we need a "mixed government" in congress and people should thus vote democratic to counter-balance Bush (however sound the argument of a mixed government may be)

Did you see the parking garage / rape ad? The subtext and inference that ad was trying to create was that if you a are white woman, and Deval gets into office, your chances of being raped are going to increase. The world "evil" was not used per se, but context and subtext can say all you need...
