On one hand, no, I don't want to be harassed. Start lookin like Nazi Germany after a while.

On the other, I don't want illegals here.

Not an easy fix.
It HAS reached the level of Nazi Germany. I got the papers in the mail a couple weeks ago and I'm a patriotic American from an all American family.

There taking my drivers license next month even though I haven't done anything wrong in close to 25 years of driving in Mass. I even get a safe driver discount on my insurance.

The RMV decided to check my profile against the other government agencies and the year on birthdate came up different in social security records. I was in foster homes Via D.S.S. when I was a kid and they set up my ss# when I was a kid.
Now I can't seem to work it out with Social Security, although I tried and I still hoping for a miracle. If my attempt at fixing this screws up my social security status I'll loose my job too.

So now I'm a 40 year old high school teacher with no criminal record who will probably have to decide between moving to Canada and hanging myself in the next year.

This is for real, I didn't make this up.

But to say screw it and let whoever wants to come in, in is completely reckless and irresponsible
we let them all in, and have for hundreds of years

As a legal immigrant I am required to carry my green card at all times and must be able to produce it to any government official requesting it. Failure to do so may result in being detained. I think the cop in this case was right to take these guys to the INS as I would be in the same situation, and with the current issues with immigration and expired visas would expect to be. As an immigrant I know I have less rights than a US citizen and this is the choice I made in coming to this country.
The amount of money, time and sheer aggravation it took me to get my resident status, the illegals really piss me off. Who the fuck are they to ignore the rules and then get protected by the full constitutional rights of a citizen. Send the fuckers back.

Drivers License + SS card is good enough to prove it to an employer it ought to be good enough for a LEO. (Not one, both) Call me paranoid but I carry my SS card.

Sounds like the issue here is just that they interrogated the passengers. Since when have the police ever asked for ID from everyone in the car?

That said it's retarded that police aren't supposed to turn illegal aliens in. Who the heck is supposed to enforce immigration laws?

We still have it awfully good. After seeing security cameras every 10ft in the UK and getting an UZI jammed in my face for doing nothing in Italy.. we aren't exactly Nazi's here.

if you look suspicious (ie young, look to be on drugs, or in alot of cases other than white) they check every one and don't need any reason at all

They apparently do if you believe that ACLU "how to avoid illegal search and seizure" video floating around the net.

IANAL but the "right way" to answer the police questions will keep them from searching the car or interrogating your passengers.

Or they just beat your ass and you end up on the news.

cant they detain them for having no ID. they claimed to have detained them based on racial profiling. you have14 people in a van that probably dont speak english (very well or at all) and dont have ID! if that doest throw up a red flag... i dont know what does. why is ok to racially profile airplane passengers?
