US Tells Iran to "Back Off"

As if we needed another war. clicky

What the article fails to mention is exactly what Iran is doing to warrant needing to be told to "back off". Because as nearly as I can tell, they haven't done anything other than be a conservative Muslim nation.

There were some vague references to the US thinking the Iranians are developing nukes. The Iranians say that they are making nukes for energy.

We dont have any proof otherwise.

So, in usual Bush policy fashion, we'll go start another bloody war on suspicions that may be a load of crap.

Eventually, like the rest of the world, Iran will eventually run out of oil. Maybe they just want a more renewable source of energy. Or, maybe they dont, maybe they're a bunch of crazy towelheads who want to blow shit up. Either way, we shouldn't be ruling out talks with them, and we definitely shouldn't be provoking them.

What ever happened to diplomacy and surveillance?

Bush only has 2 years left in office, hes gotta make his moves mang. "Before its too late."

I fail to see how provoking other countries is the means to an end as far as "world peace" goes.

And theres a funny phrase, "world peace". You cant even get people to cooperate on a local community level, why would anyone believe they could get everyone lovey dovey happy horseshit around the world?

ding!

On a side-note, did anyone see Dan Rather on Letterman the other night? "Fabricated documents" aside, it was nice to see someone who actually knows what they're talking about on late-night TV talking about the war.... Dave, who's obviously a liberal, asked some really good questions about the Middle East, sending more troops, Iran etc & Dan Rather did a great job of presenting the opposite of Dave's point of view, it was really refreshing to hear reasonable people talking about serious issues.

Unfortunately I can't remember a shits worth of what he said

He doesn't like Isreal. In much the same way as we didn't like Japan before we nuked them. Does that mean that the US was not worth talking with right around 1945?

I did read a report that they feel he might be aiding insurgents, it seemed to be a question as to what US troops should do with Iranian insurgents. I say kill them right along with the Iraqi insurgents, I dont understand why its even a question.

I'm sure if you compared the number of dead Japansese in Nagasaki and Hiroshima and the population of Israel, the numbers would be close.

And I'm not trying to make some big comparison, I'm saying that having a hatred for another nations does not make Iran unworthy of being treated in a civil, diplomatic fashion.

That's right, kill the iranians on the suspicion that they might want to kill other people.

I was under the impression that the Iranians are increasingly involved with the violence in Iraq.

Iranian agents and material actively involved in the insurgency including killing our troops. They are all Shia and would either take over when we leave or have New Iraq as a puppet state they control.

This would give them another 15 to 20% of the worlds oil supply and park their Shia ass on the Sunni Saudi Arabia and Kuwait Border.

Better get used to being cold and growing Corn in your back yard. Do Sportbikes make good Planters

Loose the CIA death squads and have Irans 1st nuke test go terribly wrong.
We thought it was 100kiloton and look its a 20 megaton and killed their scientists and leaders f'n amateurs

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II_casualties

The total estimated human loss of life caused by World War II, irrespective of political alignment, was roughly 62 million people. The civilian toll was around 37 million, the military toll about 25 million. The Allies lost around 51 million people, and the Axis lost 11 million. (Note that some Axis countries switched sides and reentered the war on the side of the Allies; those nations are included in the Allied count, regardless of when the deaths occurred.)

US Tells Iran to "Back Off"

"DUBAI, United Arab Emirates - A second U.S. aircraft carrier strike group now steaming toward the Middle East is Washington’s way of warning Iran to back down in its attempts to dominate the region, a top U.S. diplomat said here Tuesday."

Yeah, it's our job to dominate the region, not the people that live there.
