We SHOULD say the pledge in school. The original. Not the one that was created in the 50's due to McCarthyism and communist paranoia. You know, the one that had "Under God" added to it to make whiners happy. Sucks being on the other side, now doesn't it.

You want freedoms like speech, weapons freedoms, etc, but don't mind other freedoms being taken away.
Freedom of speech has nothing to do with swearing on the fukkin radio, it has to do with you speaking out about how our country is being run, and not getting shot for it.

Hey then lets burn all our money and start over, because of 'In God We Trust' ya know what I can see the light now, you opened my fukkin eyes!

BTW I do shut it off when it gets out of hand on the radio or TV, I'd much rather my son and daughter get into moto-racing. And yes I am one of those fukkers that thinks drunk driving is bad, and child molesters should be stoned, but I also think if you tell me to wear a seatbelt, I tell you to get fukkin bent(unless my kids are in the car because I expect them to wear them)

oh and I live in a state that says the rider doesn't need a helmet, but guess what 95% of the time I did.... hhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmm personal choices are nice

I knew I baited ya enough to come back

Personal freedoms are very nice. Anytime they get taken away, our country looses what it was founded upon.

"In God We Trust": Yeah, it's been there since the birth of our nation. So was slavery. And women couldn't vote. Things change, for the better.

Its funny how these threads turn philosophical so quickly.

Facts: This is a group of people attempting to cause a small, inconsequential state to secede from the US. It is never going to happen, but it is their right to try like hell, for whatever they think its worth.

Facts: The majority of Vermonters are not very pleased with the US Government, and its leadership in particular, and so while they may not agree with this movement, they like the message it sends.

Doc - there is no "silent majority", this is something you have entirely dreamed up. Your political opinions are VASTLY skewed from the majority of Vermont. Learn to live with it, join us in reality.
BS. Just because your views differ form mine does NOT mean YOURS are the majority.

Go ride a horse. :

So this "movement" is a political agenda and not a "valid" attempt at secession.

I don't think the majority of "Vermonters" share your views. There are many that moved here that should not be considered "Vermonters".

I fear this will soon turn into a "I went to college so there" vs. "You went to college so there" debate.

Doc, you cannot invent facts to make them fit your arguments. You hvae, in many instances, proven to be a right leaning, war supporting, Bush supporter, which clearly puts you in the minority in Vermont.

You cannot invent a "silent majority" based on speculation, as the voting results and political environment would clearly suggest that they dont exist. And even if such a group did exist, they would be complete morons, as all they would have to do to get their voice heard would be to get out and vote instead of stay home and bitch.

I agree that politically that Vermont is lost to the

Ben and Jerry Lefty front.

I agree now that perhaps a policy of containment is best at this point. If we allowed Vt to independent I hope it would become a magnet for all east coast lefties. They would all flock there. I would miss the good roads but it is a sacrifice I am willing to make. They could throw out all industry and base their economy on hemp macrame and mens pony tail scrunchies

I agree that I am a right leaning conservative, I do not support war, Bush was voted in as Prez by the Majority, that makes him my commander in chief and I swore an oath to follow his orders and not speak ill of the government.

The silent Majority is not invented, The vocal minority goes around yelling, hollering and bitching yet DO nothing. When it does come time to voting the Majority rules. How many times has something like this come up and it was squashed when voted on? Granted some things pass but those are usually trifle matters. No I cannot remember specific examples... well Bush did get RE elected.

The MAJORITY rules. The City of Burlington, and our Senate voted to impeach Bush, for Christ's sake. I'm not saying I agree with these things, I am saying that the majority of VT'ers are super left-wing types. And I am also saying that this concept of a "silent majority" is either a figment of your imagination, or a group of incredibly stupid people for not getting out and voting.

And I sympathize with, and applaud, your statements about Bush. My brother in law is in the same boat - "Thats my boss, so what he says, goes." if he's your boss, especially in the military, you cant go around doubting him.

Burlington and our Senate is full of a bunch of Gays and tree huggers who have nothing better to do than run for office. I am not really talking local politics because Vermont is a wash. I am talking more on a National scale.

The true measurement for greatness of a country is by the numbers of people trying to get into it.

In that case to have the greatest country in the world you just have to give free medical, lots of welfare amongst other things to illigal imigrants.

The UK and Canada offer both of those, and I dont think either one has much of a problem with illegal immigration.
