I don't see what the big deal is. VT and NH are still my favorite states out of every state I've been in. I like NH and VT quite a bit, but as more people from MA, CT, and NYC start moving in, the shittier its becoming.

What is the actual tax revenue from the state of VT? I bet it isn't enough to have a great effect on the country as a whole.

We have, quite possibly, the closest thing to freedom that a capitalist 1st world nation can have.

And if a bunch of leftists want to leave the country because doing a fair day's work for a fair day's pay is too much for them, and they want a handout, well then, I say get out and stop milking my tax dollars.

See what happens when you go to live in Canada or another socialized nation and need heart surgery. You will wait for several months because of the crappy socialized healthcare system. And you will be paying higher taxes anyway. Canada and the U.K have an 80% tax bracket.

Personally, I'd rather pay my (actually quite reasonable) taxes, and have a decent job that has health insurance. That way, if I need heart surgery, I can have it...TODAY.

I suppose this is a bit of a tangent though. Sorry for the digression. Rabid leftists get my dander up.

I'm with Jay on this. Thats pretty simple thinking. "Toss 'em in a pit and light em on fire! yea! That'll solve the problem!".

Freedom is what this country is founded on. They've got that right. I just don't see how they'd be able to get the logistics sorted out. Even if they became their own country, what would they enforce? How would everything mesh driving through VT to get somewhere? Border checks, and passports to go skiing?

It'll never happen though. At least not peacefully.
