I seriously doubt you will EVER "grow into" the bike. Now we are starting to get into a "squid" discussion. The one where you ride a bike that is no where near your ability level... I digress.

The Power and your lack of experience is also good to note.

Think of it like this. Your 80 and you buy a Vette because you can afford it.
BUT you just putt around and use it to go to church and never get outta 3rd gear. Kinda a waste? Don't ya think?

I am NOT saying the bike is wasted on you. (Well maybe a little) I am saying there is SO MUCH more of that bike than you will EVER use. Why keep it?

You are right on every point. However, I do love the bike. No matter what bike I purchased I would not use it to its full capabilities. After I bought the R1 I had it lowered. I feel like I can handle the bike and feel pretty comfortable on it. For me, its for recreation and fun. Not for track days (although, maybe at some point I will change my mind once I have more experience).

Glad to know I am right about something.

Umm you can have recreation and fun on a "fiddy".... and use it to it's full potential.

That is not the point. The point is with a little too much throttle or too much/ not enough brakes you can get yourself in a heap of trouble. As a new rider you do not have the fine motor control to handle that bike at speed.

An R1 is NOT a forgiving bike, it will hurt you in an instant. For your safety and for the LAST TIME. I will urge you to trade down.

I can tell you are rather opinionated. Fine, You do what you like Missy, no one here can stop you.

Just PLEASE don't go giving other people advice on what bike to buy.

I am not being opinionated. I am just telling you why I purchased the bike I did. I would never give advice on a subject that I know little about or claim to be an expert. Remember, I came out here LOOKING for tips and advice on riding.

I appreciate your thoughts and comments.

if you trade the R1 in for a 500 or something, we will all party, and hug, and laugh at that time way back when you had an R1, and high-five all around, and dance, and ... and... that'll be nice. right?

+1 to what Doc said...

I don't believe either that she will "grow into" that bike. An R1 is NOT a forgiving machine. First stupid mistake she will make riding on it the bike will send her flying in the "decor". As to *if* she will get up or lay on the ground after the crash...well hopefully she does get up and realize what a fool she was. This bike won't LET YOU make ANY mistakes. So you will not learn from your mistakes, therefor you are most likely taking all your chances away from becoming a better rider.

You probably don't even start to understand all the fun you're missing, trying to learn on that R1 of yours. Starting small build your confidence FAST. It let you make mistakes and learn not to do them again, without sending you to the hospital. Smaller bikes are lighter in weight, therefor super flickable and fun to learn how to lean, take curves without scaring you shitless, and still faster than most ordinary cars on the roads. Not as "pretty" I give you that, but come on....if you started into the sportbike world buying an R1 because it looked pretty, I don't think anyone should give you credibility as a motorcyclist.

Last before I jump out of my soap box (and before the guys put me on "ignore"...tee hee), you did come on here to ask advices. You already had made up your mind (already had the R1) anyway. Don't question why everyone is picking on you now after that fact...you did make yourself look like a troll. I'm a female rider, there is quite a few of us on here, and I f*ckin hate reading posts like yours. You come out as a joke, and altho I do not wish any harm on you, I'm pissed off thinking we might sooner than later read that you hurt yourself real bad, or worse. Good luck with your super cute R1, but carefull coming back on here to post about you crashing someday...you might not like what the guys have to say.

Edit: on behalf of many, I would like to offer my thanks to you for all the entertainment you provide us. God only knows, I really need to see some people having it worse than me right now...
