Paul wins straw poll at Strafford County Republican Picnic


STRAFFORD A large crowd of supporters for Texas Congressman Ron Paul helped to push him to victory over former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in a straw poll at the Strafford County Republican Picnic on Saturday afternoon.

Paul, who spoke at the event, defeated Romney handily 208 votes to 26.

Rounding out the poll were Mike Huckabee 20 votes, Tom Tancredo 8 votes, John McCain 7 votes, John Cox 5 votes, Duncan Hunter 5 votes, Fred Thompson 5 votes, Rudy Giuliani 3 votes and Sam Brownback 1 vote.

ah...interesting... I like ron paul....more so then romney. I think romney's an empty suit..he's the one "they" say is the favorite now..

I suspect Ron Paul was the only Rep with time enough in his schedule to attend the Strafford County Repulican Picnic, so he carried the straw poll.

I have to say he has not a chance in hell of being nominated but Ron Paul is the only one of the Republicans running I can listen to for more then 20 seconds without getting a headache.

no Ron Paul wasn't there, just 208 of his supporters

I suspect he will not get the nomination, but maybe he'll run on the Libertarian ticket again
