Well I'm going to try and refrain from my opinions on this case, but I will link to an article written by a black man that says a lot of what I think about this case, including a number of facts that are suspiciously absent from most news stories about this event and rallies.

I like Whitlock....I learned about him during the Imus deal...if more blacks were like him rather then Jackson/Sharpton this country would be a better place.

Who cares what his race is (yes I know the racial tensions around this case make it important) but he is a straight shooter with a well-researched article. I hate how every time there is a "black-on-white" crime Al and Jesse come crawling out of the woodworks screaming about how the guy is innocent because he was just defending his race. Grumble...

Well the reason I put his race in, is because in MY opinion, had the EXACT article was written by a white man, it would be seen as trivializing or something along those lines, the fact that a black man wrote it, given the context of the case made me think it would be seem more relevant and not patronizing.

Did you even read my whole post? My comment was that I think it is stupid that race has to be brought into any discussion on this topic, not that it isn't important. In fact, it is important to mention, given the racial tension it has produced. I just wish it didnt have to be.

I thought you were refering to the fact that I felt the need to describe the article as a black man, as opposed to a good article on the situation.
But yes, I agree that its stupid race needs to be brought in the situation.
