just curious how this is different from mandated Francaise back home?
I mean why the fuck does everything have to be presented in both languages in every province?

when was the last time you ran into a francophone in BC (that didn't work for the federal gov't)?

big waste of money IMO

I guess it's the same as here in the US with spanish...Everywhere you go, stuff is being translated in small spanish letters, even tho many regions of the US don't have much of spanish speaking people. I agree tho they should not go overboard with the translation thing...in large areas where mainly one language is spoken, I don't see the necessity to translate everything. In Quebec, I believe they were forcing merchants to have their street signs in both languages, altho most of the population speaks french. I think it should be left to the choice of the merchant. Same thing as if you go to B.C. or any english province, why force merchants to have the french translation on their street signs?

For some reason, I always preferred the english language over my own, altho I have obviously more facility speaking french and I can hold a much more elaborated conversation with complicated words in my own language. But when I go back to Quebec, hearing french on TV and on the radio literally pisses me off. They are trying to change the good old french canadian slang for a more "european, proper speaking".... YUK.
