Who do you like? re: Dems

Without slamming Bush or any of the republicans I'm curious to hear your POV's on the democratic nominee's....

I like Dodd and Biden. They seem to have real ideas for real problems. They both are patriots and I feel have the countries best interests at hand rather then their own political goals. Even though I agree with both of them on just about nothing hahaha. It's too bad both of them are out shadowed by the manchurian candidate, an opportunist, and a sleazy lawyer....

So far I feel most aligned with Joe Biden. He seems to tell it like it is more often than the others.

I don't see Hilary or Barack as being electable.

Who do you like? re: Dems

I think of the Democrat candidates, Obama is my favorite. He's not a "seasoned" politician, which I think is a good thing. He's done good things for veterans in the past, and has had the courage to stand up for the beliefs of his constituency.

I dont like Hilary, I think she's just too polar opposite of Bush to not totally eff things up. I also feel like she is another cookie-cutter politician who will get elected and push whatever her own agendas are.

I dont like any of the Democratic candidates' policy on the Iraq war. I dont like the idea of simply packing it up and leaving Iraq fucked over. I dont think we should simply "stay the course", but rather should work on more reasonable goals.

I may end up voting for a republican in this election, which is unusual for me.

Who do you like? re: Dems

I want to like Obama too but his stupid campaign people pissed me off a serious amount calling and asking for money.. as I never gave them my name or #. And they were unwilling to send me any information on his positions, etc.. they just wanted money.

That seems to be the theme of the democrats lately.. I don't know what Republican calls are like but I've gotten quite a few obnoxious calls from the democrats... one call from the NH democrats they wouldn't even tell me WHO the candidates were that they wanted money for... they are going to make me vote Republican if they keep it up. (Not like I'm a "member" of either party) Call me an ass but I also hate how the democratic pollsters sound like they need to go back to 5th grade. If they can't even read the script someone else needs to make the calls.

I'd probably go for Edwards over Hillary as well. I don't want to see any more Clintons or Bushes in the white house. There is no way either family is anywhere near smart enough to deserve any kind of "legacy" access to the white house.

+1 to BenVFR - I've gotten more calls form Democratic candidates and "Democrats for America" (whatever that is) this year than I care to count.

Who do you like? re: Dems

Basically my point is if they are going to push people to be involved I want to see some effort put into:

- This is when election "X" is
- These are our candidates
- These are their positions, websites, etc...

Do not ask me for money without informing me on the above 3... otherwise it's just going to be a nasty phone call. Send me a nice info packet.. include financials justifying why they need/want my money when the candidate is flying around in a private jet and has 5 houses.. then maybe I'll donate. I'd love to see transparency in terms of what corporations and/or groups have been lining their pockets so we know who they are beholden to.

Who do you like? re: Dems

I just dont understand why obama and hillary are the 2 front runners and neither of them have had to run anything in their lifetimes. Obama was voting on pothole legislature 4 years ago and made a good speech at the DNC...ok, what else? and what exactly are his ideas? And wtf has hillary ever done but marry a politician? she got elected to the senate because her husband got a blow job and ny'ers felt bad for her...

I hear people say they like obama because of his positions but he never answers a question when i see him speak and they like hillary because bill, and his people come with her... The short term memory is outstanding in this country.....this country definately does not need bill nor "his people" in this day and age.... If i had to choose btw her and obama...i'd pick obama. He doesnt have a record...but on the other hand...he doesnt have a record.

Who do you like? re: Dems

Obama did some very good things in his time as a Senator, the most important of which impact veterans. He seems younger and fresher than his peers, and a lot of his momentum is gained from pissing on the Iraq War (though his solution is pretty un-original).

Hillary is definitely riding Bill's coattails. Things were economically good, and there wasn't much going on in the world (at least when compared to current times) when Bill was President, so people are thinking we can jsut put another Clinton in office and go back to the way things were.

If this election turns into Hillary vs. Giuliani, I am going to be very displeased.

I like that both Hillary and Obama are showing well.

Edwards mystifys me. Like, how is he going to end healthcare for Congress if they don't pass a universal healthcare bill??? Did something change in the constitution that allows the executive branch to pass laws? Or does he really believe he can have a bill introduced to eliminate healthcare for the same people that have to vote on the bill???

He was indeed a freshman Senator, so he hasn't been in office that long. Thats actually a positive in my opinion.

I'm cheating a bit here, this is from his web site:

Quote:
As a member of the Veterans' Affairs Committee, Senator Obama has fought to help Illinois veterans get the disability pay they were promised, while working to prepare the VA for the return of the thousands of veterans who will need care after Iraq and Afghanistan. Recognizing the terrorist threat posed by weapons of mass destruction, he traveled to Russia with Republican Dick Lugar to begin a new generation of non-proliferation efforts designed to find and secure deadly weapons around the world.
Quote:
His first law was passed with Republican Tom Coburn, a measure to rebuild trust in government by allowing every American to go online and see how and where every dime of their tax dollars is spent.

Well...you have to be nominated before you can be elected. And it's gonna be one or 'em unless they both have a 'Dean' moment the press can push before the primaries...

Further, the current administration has left such a bad taste in everyones mouth that I fear anyone who isn't a Republican will be elected. So...get used to it.

I hope that Obamma gets the nod

This is still a racist country and he will be beaten by 5 points if the
Republicans nominate anybody.

The dems/republicans are at 50/50 with all the black vote already.
Yes there will be a small increase in black participation but I am sure the
silent racists will flood him over like Bande Ache.

I think they will carrier at least the senate back too. Oprah will help cement him as the Black candidate.

I am not a racist but any of the democrats proposals are very frightening to me.

Come on Obama

You may not like it but
prejudice is alive and well in fly over country

If anyone was listening he is an absolute socialist with a big smile.

It is certainly now between Hillary, Obama, Mc Cain, Romney so us conservatives are F*cked cause neither McCain or ROmney would make a good Texas Democrat. HIllary would beat either one but Obama down in flames
