That original post is one of the most biased articles I have ever read.

Being in this country illegally is illegal, no matter how you want to word it. So is speeding. So why are they allowed to be here with no punishment, use MY hard earn tax dollars for all the above catagories, but when I break the law such as speeding IM fully punished, and lose MORE of my hard earned money and time assuming an appeal and such. So basically they get everything, contribute nothing and nothing happens. I have to work, pay my taxes and if I do something wrong Im fully punished.

Im not saying this is right, I dont believe myself in a lot of it, I just think a lot of people think of all of this is true, and Im willing to bet the vast majority believes in at least parts of this.
+1 to that... great post. Also, like you, not saying I agree, but that's a very common sentiment.

However, to play devil's advocate... no one wants to do all the shit jobs for minimum wage that immigrants will do.

I would say a lot of the catch 22 here lies in the employer's hands. Do they employ illegals under the table to vie for business and keep their heads afloat and stay in business, or do they decide to get righteous and only hire legal workers and pay tax on all their labor wages? In the former, they are perpetuating the issue but stay in business, but in the latter they are doing what is 'right' but may very well see their business taken by other companies employing illegals and see themselves go under financially.

It's a very complex situation that has gotten to a point where there is no clear-cut solution that is fair to all parties involved. That's why the original post is so mindblowingly short-sighted.

it's going to get to the point where there is more penalty for being legal than illegal.

C'mon Kham,

You can't really think that any patriotic person who doesn't hate our country would really aknowledge that this country destroyed an entire people, do you?

1. By answering in any way, it must mean that you hate our country.
2. By not answering, it must mean you hate our country.
3. There is no grey area in life, everything is completely black and white.

See how easy it is?

See I think this is an invalid perception too though. Everyone always says this, but remember that factory that was raided a year or two ago, and they caught all the illegals, which was most of their workforce, 2-3 days later every last job was filled with legal workers. Obviously if the company couldnt afford it they wouldnt have hired all these legals, they were just saving money using illegals.
Also I bring it up all the time, the paint industry, theres some good ones using legal workers, and they're getting the shaft cause of the company that hires illegals for 5 bucks an hour, which makes for shorter jobs. DOes that mean legal workers dont want to do the job? Of course not. There just needs to be uniform rules about employers hiring illegals to balance everything out.

Itll be interesting to see what is going to happen in Arizona, where they are going to punish employers who hire illegals. If things work out well I wouldnt be surprised to see it spread to other parts of the country.

all in the business. maximize profit as long as you can get away. who cares right or wrong. employers know and will take advantage of the situation.

I was turned down because I was too expensive and turned down due to inexperience. Since I know the paint guy will come back, I will point out that I used to paint houses (interior and exterior) for 8 years, nd when I applied for that job I was turned down because I "would not be an adequate employee due to my small stature" (I was turned down because I was female).

Not all unemployed Americans are as horrible as you say. Could I have scrubbed toilets for $5.25/hr? Probably if any jobs like that were open in this area at the time.... All generalizations are false.

Re: Let's say I break into your house...

My point exactly, theres always someone willign to take a job, and theres far more jobs that refuse to hire them because they're "too experienced" or are too qualified or whatever. Guess what, its cause they want to pay someone less, regardless of whether you would take it or not, they want someone that will take the money and not look elsewhere for somewhere they could get paid better.

i was out of work for more than a year but that was my fault for not taking the right path in life. i'd take the paint job or might even blowjob but i would stop short on scrubbing toilets.

ding ding ding ding..."and what do we have for today's winner?" lol

thats my point...i am not for "rounding them up" I am for getting rid of the environment in which someone here illegally can survive..

hit the people who hire "undocumented workers", people who rent them housing and make it illegal for them to own property and register a car and they will leave....

Re: Let's say I break into your house...

We need to stop illegal immigration now. That way, once we're done selling our real estate and outsourcing all the good jobs to Asia, I can get a job mowing the lawns of the Indian satellite office built on land owned by the Chinese. Maybe if I'm lucky they'll pay me in rupees, since the dollar sure ain't looking very good right now.
