The reason for the separation of Church and state was a reaction to the religous intolerence of England. That you should not establish a state religion that all loyal subjects MUST adhere too. They considered themselves good Christians and thought that they had inallienable rightd bestowed by a creator not King George

I think you have completely missed the point. You claim there are fundamentalist christian terrorist organizations out there but all you have to back it up is events of the past that no longer occur and a few isolated incidents executed by lone individuals.

There is no Al-Queda of the Christian Right, there is no Christian equivalent of Hamas.

I don't care what excuses were used hundreds of years ago to opress/murder/enslave people. I care about what is going on today. We can look to the past to learn how to deal with todays issues by seeing what worked in the past. But you haven't sited one example of a current Christian terrorist group.

The closest thing I would say we have is those looney tunes over at Westboro Baptist Church. But they aren't terrorists as all they do is protest in (IMHO)VERY inappropriate places. But all they do is protest.

I am in no way siding with Jro in this thread (sorry, Jro, but I whole-heartedly disagree with your opinions, and you don't need to reply to this, we'll just leave it at that) and I do agree with Bigred and rich w; however, there are radical Christian groups within our borders that are capable and willing of committing acts considered to be terrorism; though they are fewer and farther between than radical Muslim groups in this present day. One group you may have heard of is the Christian Identity movement. They are still very much alive and skeeming today as they were in the 80's when they got started.

This may be straying into a tangent, but do not forget about other types of terrorist organizations within our borders as well. Neo-Nazi's, specifically WAR, comes to mind readily. These groups often worship the Christian cross with a great deal of intent.

It is naive to believe that there are no Christian terrorists, but like I said and as I think has already been pointed out, Christian terrorists pale in comparison for concern to radical Muslim terrorists.

There are all kinds of terrorists out there who are all capable of spilling blood and therefore are dangerous to our society, however in modern days we have cast a mold of a terrorist as a middle eastern, towel-headed, AK wielding, caveman. Why? To dehumanize them, thus making it easier to wage war against.

howdy folks- first, an apology for my descent into name calling and over all snottiness. Second- I happen to agree somewhat with you all. Christian terrorist groups are not an equivalent to muslim terrorist groups- but this certainly COULD be, and with minimal effort. Muslim terrorist groups are the most radical, most violent, the most prominent- because, IMO, of the quality of life over there. They have a lot to be pissed off about. Militant groups over here don't have the same daily reminder of how worse off they are, it is not readily easy to call out a specific enemy to attack. It's got to be hard to get violently passionate about killing in the name of (insert whatever here) when this country has so much more to offer.

I agree that radical islam is a bunch of nuts and will not dissapear without really effing up the world in one way shape or form (if they didnt already). But to tell you the truth, as the more dedicated (read radical) christian movements seem to gain momentum, it is only a matter of time before their "tolerance" for other religions wanes and the other guys go from being "other minded" to "evil minded" to "better kill em".
