New Subaru Time? After seeing the new 2005 Legacy wagon in person, Tammy and I went to drive one on Monday night. We had met a salesman a few weeks earlier when our 2003 Forrester was serviced and had wanted to drive one then. However, he didn't have any 5-speeds. Well, a few came in on the Friday before. He was out on Monday, so the sales manager helped us and I found the blue one we asked about. It was a Legacy GT and was friggin' gorgeous. Bling Bling wheels, huge sunroof, fully loaded. Tammy was already grinning, and he came out with the keys and a plate. She drove it first, and was giggling as we pulled out of the lot. She liked it a lot. It was very nice, fully power, the whole package. A quick blast down the highway to The Blue Dot and we swapped places. I pull onto the main drag and give a big WHOA. This thing has some serious nut! I don't see a boost gauge, so I assume it's not a Turbo. I think it's just a newer, better engine. A very quick side streets and I realize this thing is very tight. The MOMO shifter and wheel are cool. I get on the highway and punch it up the ramp. I'm at 80 MPH and I'm in third and its still pulling. I'm laughing and also very impressed. This car rocks. AWD, wagon, bling, 6 disk, heated seats, bling. We get back at the dealer and I get out and look at the sticker. POW! Whoever thought a Subaru would cost over 30K? And now the pressure. Salesman and his manager are now our best friends, care to leave a deposit? Credit Card? Leave the Forrester and drive this home tonight? We can prep it in a hour! Cell number? Call you at home? As of tonight, the car will cost us $46.00 a month more with his numbers. And it is a Turbo. The first salesman didn't know shit. We own the Forrester in two years. Or we have 5 more years of Subie payments. We also drove an new Outback right after the GT. Sucked. Uninspiring, no balls. That GT rocked. decisions. |

New Subaru Time?We decided NOT to buy the car. We both loved it A LOT, but the idea of years of more car payments really brought us back to reality. |
