RJ's Motorsports in Nashua NH

Can't say enough good stuff about this crew. the RF900 had a bit of a shiity end to the season, and decided to blow the spark plug out of cyldr # 2. i took it to them (stripped) for an evaluation, they were straight up with me, no BS. gave me a great quote, resulting in them helio-coiling (sp) cyldr #2. They also gave her a spring cleaning up & general fettling, all for $75!

they are nothing but profesional, and won't rip you off.

on a side note this cumming summer they are hosting weekly rides! tuesday nights are pizza runs! (ride for a bit end up at either the shop or various pozza joints for a bite to eat) and weekend runs to the coast, norther NH, VT etc.

cheers

Re: RJ's Motorsports in Nashua NH

Perhaps they do OK with bikes, but I did not have a good experience with them wrenching my sled. For the gory details, read on -

Not only were they unable to fix my snowmobile after the first attempt, they could not even tell me for sure what was wrong with it after the second attempt. They told me what they "thought" the problem "might" be, but that it would cost around $1500 to find out. This was for a 1995 sled that probably isn't even worth $1500 in good shape.

In addition to this, they broke the sway bar arm either test driving it or picking it up with the forklift on their second attempt at fixing it. They told me it was like that when I brought it to them and I knew it wasn't. They would not make good for it.

The sled was brought to them in early April 07 for their first attempt at fixing it. They said one of the parts (an oxygen sensor) was on back-order. Supposedly the part did not arrive until August. I'll leave it to the reader to form their own opinion on this but my take was that they didn't want to bother working on my sled until after the prime motorcycle season had passed. I would not have had a problem with that if they had told me this was the case, but they left me to believe that it took nearly 5 months to get an O2 sensor for a 1995 580cc Arctic Cat.

It gets worse. The original owner of the sled (It broke within 10 minutes after I bought it) felt bad and was trying to help me out by bringing it there to get it fixed and even offered to pay for the repairs. He had called a number of times to get status and in August they told him the part finally arrived and that it was "in the queue" to get fixed and that they would call him when it was done.

After a couple weeks of it "being in the queue" I asked if he heard anything and he said No and suggested I call them. When I did they said the sled had been done for 2 weeks and that they told the original owner it was ready, which was a lie. It should be noted that I bought this sled used and "as-is". The fact that the prior owner was making good on this goes a long way towards deciding who "I" believe as far as what they told him and what they told me.

When I brought the sled there the 2nd time because it exhibited the EXACT same symptom it was brought to them to fix, they said they had a mechanic drive it for 45 min in a nearby field and could not recreate the problem. In my experience it took 10 min to get the sled warmed up enough to have it completely lose power. I wound up having to go down there to demonstate it. I drove the sled in the same nearby field by them for about 10 minutes and it exhibited the problem, which I demonstrated for them.

They typically sounded courtious to deal with in person and on the phone, except of course when they were calling me a liar about my sway bar arm not being broken when I brought them the sled. At least they didn't try to charge me for the second attempt at fixing my sled. I think I would have filed in small claims court if they had.

No doubt there is enough info here that they will be able to determine who I am, and that I am burning a bridge. It doesn't metter to me because not only is the above nothing but the facts, based on my experience I will NEVER use this place for anything again. Your mileage may vary, but at a minimum they appear to have a basic business ethics problem.

I'll take my business there before I'll take it down the street to Best Cycles. Unfortunately they just can't compete with the internet sales, but for quick fixes and inspections, that's where I go.

That's Roger, the owner/his wife is the other half of the owner. Roger is a great mechanic and a whiz at the dynotune. They try their best, like everyone, but you are never going to make everyone happy.

I have used them for most of my services beyond what I feel comfortable doing. Never had a problem yet. Their sales guys are sales guys, they are gonna make their profit no matter what.

I helped out when my Dad was looking for a new bike there, and caught the sales guy in an outright lie. Finally made the deal stick, but sales guys are sales guys, Right?

I would recommend them over Best Cycle anyday, Best is an outright joke! Wouldn't send my enemy there.

My .02 cents.

Best Cycles is absolutely HORRIBLE!
I think that their parts/service department is the WORST
I have ever been to. Never again

Update - think it is just a very stretched chain.

Would it be a good idea to switch out front/rear sprockets
at the same time if I put a new chain on?

Yes. It'd also be a good idea to clean and wax the new chain.
