Brockton Cycle Center

Just a quick recap of my experience with Brockton Cycle Center - it sucked...:thumbdown

I've only been there twice. The first time was for an INITIAL service for my R1 (pretty basic stuff). During the warranty period, I always get the prescribed service done at an authorized (by the factory) shop.

Anyway, first service - I arranged for an appointment mid-day, as I intended to ride the bike there, wait / shop while it was being worked on, and then head home. They made me wait for over an hour once I arrived (though I had an appt.), and then came out to tell me that they didn't have an oil filter, and wondered if I would mind coming back another day?!:mad1 Of course, I said what you all would have said, and one of their shop boys took off to R.I. to get an oil filter in order to do the service. I wait ANOTHER HOUR for him to get back. Then, they finally do the (simple) work.

The mechanic completes the work in an hour, and then they present me with a bill. The bill lists "3 hours labor", and the charge is approaching $200 with parts. I asked them if it was a joke...and they seemed surprised! I pointed out that I waited for 2 of the 3 hours because they weren't prepared, and had to run around looking for an oil filter (what Yamaha dealer would not have an R1 oil filter in stock anyway?). So, they "worked" with it a bit, but I still felt that they were a rip-off.

I took the bike back there for the 4K service, because it was the ONLY shop that had an appointment on short notice (now I know why). The did the work (they say), and when I went to collect the bike (which they kept for an extra day), they gave it back to me with a SCRATCH in the tail of the bike!:madfucku

I asked the service manager on duty - Mark Hurley - if he was going to take care of it. He just stammered around and said "you'll have talk to the head of the service dept., Jay Hurley". Like I didn't know it was his brother - what a joke. How about just honoring the work / mistakes of your staff?

Anyway, I wrote them off after that. The only thing I'll ever go there for now is a SUPER hot deal on gear. Their sales / service dept's are a joke, and a rip-off IMHO...

I bought my bike there in 96. It was a used deal and when I picked it up I rode it for a mile waiting for the speedo to work. I turned around and asked W/T/F is this? The bike had no Speedo cable! Oh, so you want me to believe the odometer?

I went back after 5 years to find a helmet. Most of the ones they advertized we "out of stock".... The ones they did have were 1 to 3 year old models.

It will be longer than 5 years before I go back this time!!!

Brockton Cycle Center

Bill, Henry and I visited Brockton Cycle Center before Andy's BBQ this past Saturday and noticed that the store has become more of a clearing warehouse for "last year's" and "out of date, discontinued" models and merchandise. Practically nothing is from the current model year, including, helmets, boots, suits, etc. When I asked about top of the line Shoei's I was told (by a salesman that said he was quitting and his last day was tomorrow) that they didn't really order Shoei helmets anymore because they couldn't get a 'deal' on them like they could with discontinued Arai's (although they didn't have a complete selection of those either). If you are seeking an ok deal on discontinued merchandise it's an ok place, but I don't see that the deals are that good. In fact, once merchandise gets 2 years old the price SHOULD be 50% off. Certaily NOT selling anywhere near full list price.

The hot 18yr old girl upstairs was the highlight of the visit. mmm

I bought my first bike from Brockton Cycles last year and even with all the problems I've had with it...I still love this bike! However, I had the same problem someone else in nesr had...my speedometer/odeometer cable was frayed at the bottom. Of course I took it back and they were completely willing to fix it for me for free but it makes you wonder how many people they've done this to. Sad to say atleast I feel a little better I'm not the only one who has had big problems with them! And being a girl it's even harder to find a place where they're willing to give you any respect.... This definitely isn't the shop for that!

And being a girl you have even less reason to go there, since the hot babe upstairs prob ain't all that appealing to you. ummm, errr, hmm, wellll, guess you never know so these days, so I shouldn't really make that kinda comment.

I don't even know this girl but there are so few of them here to hit on I figure I best make the move. ouchhh, my wife just smacked me.

Do I need to say this again.... Brockton Cycle sucks! Plain and simple everyone I know who has gone there including myself has only been treated poorly and got poor service!
And chuck...about those "hot babes" sorry but hot or not... any girl that doesn't know that S stands for small and M is medium etc etc really isn't all that bright... Needless to say those bimbos - oops I mean girls fit right in with the pigs that work in the rest of the building!

I've made my peice for tonite...I'll save more for another time

Brockton Cycle used to have more up-to-date merchandise too. Lately it seems they stock the shelves with year old (or even 3 year old stuff). If you are looking for the latest or best technology, this probably won't be the place you'll find it. In fact, while some merchandise is less expensive than other places, some stuff seems to be priced over retail. I was looking at Kryptonite locks on their website. The NY lock retails for around $65. Other sites sell it for as low as $53. Brockton Cycle's price: $79.99...WHAT??? I thought this was for the lock AND chain, but when placing a mock order I found the chain to be an ADDITIONAL $79.99. Both combined retail for only $139.95 -- not even close to the $159.98 that Brockton is gouging. hmm, perhaps it's a popular item due to the crime rate there. I ride a Ducati (which they don't sell) so have never had any experience with their service or repair work but based on talking to some of the sales reps (who would rather talk to each other than prospective customers) I wouldn't let them wipe the carbon out of my tailpipes.
