Bad Parkway Cycle

Ok i dropped my '96 suzuki RF600RT at Parkway last monday with some new pirelli's i wanted put on, a request for a tune up adn plugs, and the 15k factory service. They told me it could be done in a day or two. Its been a week now and they haven't even touched because of a screw they are waiting for? Its a drain screw for the carb float bowl. I can understand that they don't want to take it apart twice, but its just a screw, there is no sense in wasting all this time over what should be a pretty universal part for a common carb (Mikuni). So i called today to see what the latest story would be, and i told them to forget the damn screw, just get it running, i can chage it myself at a later date, but they still cant look at it for another 3-4 days?!?!?!

Am i being unreasonable in asking for a tune up in under a week?

I am trying another trick at the moment, i told one of the sales guys that i would be interested in upgrading to a CBR1100XX next year(which i actually want to do, i haven't decided on which dealer yet though), but he is about to lose the possibility of a customer over his service department. I will keep you posted as to whether that motivates them or not.
So at the moment i am also trying to find another dealer or service shop i could take it too, i am thinking of going and getting my bike back tomorrow if they still havent touched it after i made a stink today.

I have anger issues when it comes to poor service, especially at these rates!!!!

Hey parkway!

Update on Parkway, i mentioned that i tried asking the sales guy for help, well his name is Ken, and he helped a lot. I went over there today, completely ready to take my bike out of there and fight with them about it, but it was miraculously in pieces in the garage... they got it in last night, or early this morning after the sales guy talked to em
I can't complain about that. A little redemption is always nice!

Have fun now kiddies,

Yea they are right down the street. But every time i have been there, or my friends went there, and we had anything less than a Brand New sportbike, BOUGHT FROM THEIR SHOP, or a really pricey BMW, they dont want anything to do with ya, not the friendliest of receptions. I haven't been motivated to want to work with them yet on anything. The Beemers sure are nice to go look at though.

Parkway sucks from what I've heard. I think they are owned by the same people that own GMB (which really sucks). I'm surprised that place (GBM) hasn't been shut down, but motorcycling is seen as a hobby niche industry so doesn't warrant much attention. A friend of mine was going to purchase a Honda RC51 when they first came out. Parkway was $5K over invoice. I didn't ask if that included vaseline. GBM was only $500 over invoice, oh goody. The next day we call back to do the deal, and the sales rep is no longer working there. Further, we are told, ohhh, he must have made a mistake, it's $5K over invoice. Can you say eat the fuckin thing? I sure can.

Well i dont know what to say right now. I just got my bike back from parkway finally. They did all the work i wanted, and it seems they have actually woken up quite a few more ponies than she used to have when i rode her home. (Vrrrrrooom vroom!!) I am very excited about that. But, (there's always a butt!!!)while it was in the shop, they managed to drop my gas tank on the fairings...... THE ONES THAT JUST CAME BACK FROM THE PAINT SHOP!!!! THE BEAUTIFUL PAINT JOB I GOT A GREAT DEAL ON!!!!!! Sooo, i raised quite a stink and they may be able to make it up to me, they gave me an account with a pretty sizeable discount off of anything i ever buy there.. that was a start, then the head of the service department said he can get me a new pipe?!?!?! Mine is pretty scratched up, the guy i got the bike from dropped, so i am thinking this might work in my behalf.

Moral of the story, raise a stink and be loud!!!! It can work out in the end (Sort of).

Not that I'm defending anyone here, but those side panels are a BITCH when you gotta work with the tank raised or off. I don't know of a single RF owner that doesn't have those scratched. The fact that they offered to set you up with a new pipe shows that they're willing to back their mistake. Which by the way, I'd jump all over NOW while the offer is still fresh. Glad it all worked out for you...
