raptor is in a whole other league. the ex is air cooled and tough but slow dated technology campared to the rappy.

+1 the rap is a whole different world, but I loved my 400ex. Also you'll prolly be able to find a decent ex for a lot less money. In my opinion you cant go wrong with either one, if you are just lookin to get dirty and have some fun.

Stay away from the 2001 Raptor, all the other years are fine...the new 06 with efi is 5 times better than the 01-05 in pretty much every moving part on the quad. I've got a 2006 and it is the most impressive and fun quad I have ever ridden.
I had a 2002 400ex, while it was somewhat fun because it handled good..it's a very boring motor and never put a smile on my face.

I have been looking at 2000-2004 400ex's which are in the range from 2k-2600. Today i found a 2003 raptor 660(blue) for 2800 in excellant condition and adult owned,he's looking to sell to get his 1st house..also looked at a 2003 ltz400 but wasnt as clean for 2600..I did hear about the 01 raptor and their tranny probs...The last time i rode was when i had my faithfull 200x 3 wheeler, all the times i flipped that 1 ..

i had an 03 ltz400. good ride but the stock suspension sucked (like the ex) and they had frame problems. if your going used go with the 03 rappy for 2800.

oh and don't expect to much love for quads on this forum!

Fuck 'em all! Get a 4-wheeler! I'm havin' a blast on my li'l ol' 400 I just got. Just a measly little utility 4x4 4-wheeler. Fuggin' GREAT on trails & muck...
