New England Classic Charity Trail Ride June 8-10, 2012

    Anyone doiing/done this.....

    New England Classic Charity
    Trail Ride

    June 8-10, 2012
    New Hampshire Motor Speedway
    Loudon, New Hampshire

Once again, riders will start and finish both days at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, NH, enjoying dual sport and hero section trails as they choose along the way. The ride is approximately 100 miles each day.

The Big Bike Rally is back and promises the adventure riding community another great year of back roads and trails suited to their style.

The Kids' Classic for riders ages 10 to 16 returns to a closed course, two-day ride that also includes lunch both days. Space is limited for the Kids’ Ride and is filled on a first come first served basis.

NHMS sponsors the Classic by providing free camping and shower facilities on the Speedway grounds.

Riders will once again be treated to a barbecue lunch at the halfway point on Saturday and Sunday. Back at the camping area Saturday night more riders will be able to enjoy the Riders’ Banquet under a tent with expanded capacity.

I am not 100% sure but I believe you need to be street registered for this and my current dirty toy does not have a street reg. If by the time this ride happens I have a street registered dirty toy than I am in.

The tech inspection requirements say the bike must be street legal and it looks like they require a license and registration. Otherwise I was dreaming of it.

It's a great event, put on by the Merrimack Valley Trail Riders. Draws a big crowd and every fuel stop in the area is full of dirt bikes - really cool!
If you're street legal do it. (you need an OHRV registration as well if I'm not mistaken) It's good riding, most of which is only open for this event.

I'll be doing both days this year along with some friends of mine. All are welcome to join up with us if you'd like.

Not to mention, it's for a good cause.

Theres a thread over on nedb too Gino. Check that one, I'm not too sure if you can run the dirty ride with just a orv sticker.

    Otherwise, it's on the radar.

I am REALLY seriously considering this. It could back fire on me being the weekend before the Classic but it looks like a ton of fun.

If I have a street registered dirt bike and can sneak away from work I am definitely in. The bike thing should be doable, the work thing maybe not so easy. Damn end of the fiscal year deadlines.

Re: New England Classic Charity Trail Ride June 8-10, 2012

I have done this ride 4 or 5 times. Yes, a street reg is required. We were stopped by local police one year (I was on a KTM620), as our group was among the first to pass through that town. He did check our paperwork as we were explaining to him that this was an organized event. Just as he released us, groups of bikes started passing by. So, it is possible that word of the event did not trickle down to all of the enforcement agencies involved.
Another year (on a KDX200), we were stopped by an EPO, as a section of State Forest or Conservation Area was closed (not permitted by the club?). There was some confusion as the route was modified on the spot.
Another year, (on my street legal CR500) an irate land owner refused to let us pass. It turned out that he had no legal authority to do that, but it caused confusion nonetheless (we just ignored him, kept going, and let everybody else figure it out).
Another year, I was on a Husky 260, and it was a total washout on Saturday, and we would have been better off in a canoe. A beaver dam gave out just as we passed by it, and the entire woods were flooded with 12" of fast moving water. We were one of the only groups to ride the entire course that year, before it was re-routed. That ride was *EPIC*.
Overall, this is a great event, and I would love to ride it again. I always have a valid street plate.

Lets see, I'd need to find that uprated stator coil again to get my bike's capacity up to 45w of output when zinging... I've got a switch cluster, need a headlight, taillight, directionals, etc...

Yeah, not likely to happen for me this year.

Maine will be enforcing visible inspection stickers this year, so if I have a plate on it... I has to have it all work too

I should be there. I can only make Sunday though.

How does this thing run? Are there different routes for the turkey run each day? Or is it big bike ride one day dual sport/turkey run the other?

Re: New England Classic Charity Trail Ride June 8-10, 2012

My read is that these are two completely different rides. One a dual-sport/turkey/whatever. And one is a "big bike" ride.

I've been a slacker regarding signing up. My impression is that I can sign up day of.

What about this banquet business. Ya'll in for that too?

I hate you for bumping this. My heart skipped a beat when I saw the dates in the THREAD TITLE and I thought they'd changed something and I could go. Fuck you man, fuck you.

too bad you need a plate, always sounded like a great time. we need more Jack Frost style events, no stickas, no plates, no racing... just ride.

Re: New England Classic Charity Trail Ride June 8-10, 2012

I'm in for both days (no banquet). Maybe this time we wont get separated in the first 2 miles.

Bubs, you can register in the morning of both riding days or you can register on the Friday evening before.
    Friday, June 13
    5:00 pm-8:00 pm ~ Check-in/Registration at NHMS
    5:00 pm-7:00 pm ~ Tech Inspection
8:00 pm-7:00 am ~ NHMS Campground Access to Pre-Registered Riders Only

    Saturday, June 14
    7:00 am-9:15 am ~ Check-in/Registration at NHMS
    8:00 am-10:00 am ~ Start Line Open
    10:45 am-1:30 pm ~ Rider’s Lunch
    6:00 pm ~ Rider’s Banquet

    Sunday, June 15
    7:00 am-9:00 am ~ Check-in/Registration NHMS
    9:15 am-10:00 am ~ Start Line Open
9:05 am sharp ~ Suzuki Drawing
    10:45 am-1:30 pm ~ Rider’s Lunch
And so there isn't any confusion, Tech is open Saturday and Sunday morning as well. They really only check for a license plate and excessive noise.
