    Quick Reply issue

not sure if it'll show in the event logs, but i have random issues using Quick Reply.
i'm on IE9 if it matters.

when i click the button after typing a response, i'll get a pop up saying "would you like to leave or stay on this page".
when i do the Post Reply, it tends to work every time.

if you need an example, i tried the Quick Reply button 1 minute ago in the PayPal Scam thread.

    thanks and

What button do you click? I've been getting that, but I assumed it was because I kept accidentally clicking "+ Reply to Thread" instead of "Post Quick Reply". I usually hit "stay on page" both times, then it lets me hit "Post Quick Reply". The "+ Reply to Thread" is a link to the Quick Reply box in the thread, which is weird since it is literally right next to the quick reply box. That means it's doing a redirect away from the page you are on (and the text you've typed), back to the quick reply box of the thread (which is where I am when I accidentally click the button). It seems like a good "erase what I've typed and let me start again" button.

What he said. Just tested it. Strangely, it doesn't do this in Firefox.

I get that in ie9 here and there as well but only at work so I thought it was because of my firewall settings (aggressive ips).

Btw this seems like 100% a client side error but I will look into it to see if there's a fix.

    Thanks Frankenballs.

PS - I enabled IPS on my firewall at work too. Maybe I'll disable it Monday for testing purposes.

Seriously I can't get it to do it now but in another thread 2 minutes ago it happened. It might be an issue with mod_security on the server but I won't know for sure until I can get it to happen again.

want me to try disabling my IPS, or are you sure it's a security issue in the code?

Hold off for now. If I can't tie it to mod_security we can start messing with IPS.

This is what's coming up in the mod_security log. At least it's relevant but it's not leading me to a fix so far.

    Re: Quick Reply issue

Could it be an issue if you hit the button at the same time that the server is trying to auto-save? Where clicking the button interrupts the auto-save, which prompts the pop-up? That could explain why it is sporadic I just saw the auto-save mentioned in the log.

Nice catch, I didn't even see that. I'll follow up and see where it leads. Thanks!

    Re: Quick Reply issue

I just disabled auto-save entirely so let me know if this error stops. One thing I thought about was when I was posting my quick tests earlier, I was submitting before the first auto-save could happen (every 20 sec) so this definitely could be playing a part.
