I don't particularly agree with having to be a site supporter to post an ad. but I do agree with the idea behind it trying to keep scammers and the like out. But always remember the phrase "buyer beware." I don't really know any of you guys and don't post a ton on here but I wouldn't be surprised if I tried to sell something and people weren't too keen on buying for that reason. This being a regional forum I think it can be easier to identify a scammer simply by having to meet in a public place to complete the transaction.

Yep, because ponying up an entire $5 as a kind gesture so you can sell your junk out of someone else's house is simply overtaxing and outright ridiculous.

The posting permissions for the FS forum have actually been fixed now. I thought I did it yesterday but my multitasking only works up to about 5 things at once and then I fall apart. At the time I was somewhere around 8 and fucking up my boss' computer.

As for the for sale issue, I agree there should be a timed wait before being allowed to post, not a specific post count.

Sounds like you're only here to sell your stuff, which is exactly what this rule is intended to prevent. Unfortunately it doesn't matter how we have it set up, someone won't like it and will think it would be better another way. Your suggestion leaves us wide open to people just padding their post counts to get their ads posted. It's been discussed internally from just about every conceivable angle and this is the solution that the admins and mods agreed on.

Can you do a combination of both?

You have to be a forum member for X number of days AND you have to have a post count of X in order to post an ad?

Not that this really solves anything, because padding would continue.
