Try Microsoft Security Essentials (I think that's the name).

Cleaning your pc won't get you onto NESR because your IP is blocked in the firewall. Download MalwareBytes and install it, then update the definitions and run a full scan. If that comes up clean I'll remove the block and we'll see how it goes.

I run that at home now, it seems to work very well. It's also now free to businesses for up to 10 computers.

Everytime the AV package expires on one of my PCs I deinstall it and install Security Essentials. I have been very pleased with it except that they do not support servers so I am stuck with at least one 3rd party AV suite.

MS has a managed / server version in Beta, possibly released already.

I hope they'll do a standalone server version rather than trying to push ForeFront. I have a single 2003 server at home and I don't want to pay for enterprise AV.

Did the MalwareBytes thing... and the security essentials thing. Nothing showed up.

Want me to change my IP?

Nope. I'll take you off the block list and we'll see what happens.

No issues yet. If there's a problem you'll get canned again so you'll know.

Well your using Norton antivirus which is your first problem. Go download avast antivirus #1 its free, #2 doesnt completey take over your comp and #3 works better then norton. Also system restore doesnt always get rid of virus's so just be warned that you may still have issues... also if you download an anti virus after you are already infected it is more likely the antivirus will do shit..

Best bet is backup and wipe windows if you have another issue.
