    Re: vBulletin Mobile

    I'm diggin it. Looks clean.

When can we get on the test site? I wanna see how it interacts w/ youtube vids. If i go to the main site on my phone I can see that the vids are there but they don't load (iPhone)... and when I go to the thread in WAP, it often posts the URL but not as a clickable link.

Go to the bottom/left of the page and select the mobile style from the drop-down to check it out. It's pretty slow on my blackberry.

Mine's doing that now too. IT worked at first. I can set the forum to automatically display the mobile style to mobile devices but I figure some people won't like that, and as far as I can tell it's not a per-user preference option.

Looks like they fixed this issue in the latest release. I'll try to get the site updated today.

The test site is updated. Go to http://nesr.jackassity.com. Enter beta/beta to get past the initial login to access the site. I've got it set to automatically use the mobile style for mobile devices.

I can set it to not automatically display to mobile devices but you'd have to change it manually after loading the site if you wanted to use it. It's too bad it can't tie in with a subdomain like wap.nestreetriders.com does.

Thanks. I'll try to get the site upgraded tonight, with the latest rev of the mobile style. Hopefully I can find a way to tie it to a subdomain instead of having to select it or force it on mobile browsers.

    Frankenstein,

I am a seasoned web developer so if you need any tweaks or extensions done to VB just send me a PM. I have not worked with VB in several years but assume there must be a plugin style way to extend upon it. If not that would suck because you would have to migrate your modifications every release. Anyway I have over 13 years experience so if you need anything or have web related questions just let me know

    Re: vBulletin Mobile

The mobile theme now works in my iPad. I kinda like the default theme better.
Will e mobile theme replace the WAP site, or will they continue to run as separate URLs?

Not sure if the mobile style can be tied to a specific URL like the wap site, so both could be active long term.

    Re: vBulletin Mobile

The latest version of the forum and mobile style are installed now. I also made some edits so that the main site won't display in the mobile style (because it basically doesn't work), it will kick you back to the forum if you try.

You have to select the mobile style. I can set it to force it on all mobile browsers but I think people wouldn't like that.

    Re: vBulletin Mobile

yeah, setting it to force to mobile devices would suck. I'm assuming there are things you can do on the main site that you can't do on the mobile site... it's nice to have the option.

    Re: vBulletin Mobile

Over on vbulletin.com I just suggested that forcing the mobile style on mobile browsers be a user-selectable-option in their profile, and voted to have the style tied to a subdomain as well (that'd already been suggested). If enough forum owners want it, it will probably be implemented in future versions. For now we have a half-assed implementation.

I use tappatalk 90% of the time but when I do need the full site for certain features I'd like the full site because the tappa version of the site is much better than the vb mobile version.
