    Allow myself to introduce... myself

Hello, my name is Brian and I'm glad to have been referred to this forum from a fellow R6 rider/racer. Here is some info about me:
    -age:32
    -location: Plymouth, Massachusetts
    -Bike: 06' R6
-Occupation: Highway Construction Foreman, Baystate Construction Services, inc..

I've been riding on 2 wheels most of my life and over the past couple of years I've finally come to the realization that racing is something I'd probably really enjoy and do well at, so that is what I'm focused on achieving now. I'm currently in the process of prepping my bike for the track and plan on obtaining my racing license sometime before the 2011 season so I can race in as many events as possible.

I look forward to sharing any info I can as well as learning alot from you guys!

I grew up in Kingston and moved here a few years ago. You may have seen me around town, but when I go riding I usually hit the state forest, then some highway ramps, then home before the cops bust me!

Better put the hurry on....only one round at Loudon remains. You'll have to do some traveling otherwise.

Another option is to do the schooling and licensing thing during the first round of 2011 but get some track time under your belt in the mean time.

    Again, just my opinion.

Either way, welcome to the ROFLbus.

Yes, only one more school this year and I hope to make it, but if not I'll do it next year. I'm spending most of my time this year buying gear and parts for my bike and doing the work myself for the most part. Track time would be awesome, but not that easy to come by. I was kind of thinking that I'll just jump into some races and not really expect to be superfast, but gain experience along the way. 2012 I'll try to be competetive.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you reach that conclusion? If it's private or none of my business, that's fine. Just curious.

I'm not sure which decision you're referring to, but what I was saying in my posts is that in my opinion, there is no better way to learn how to race, than actually getting out there into a race, and doing it over and over again. Track days aren't really an option for me because I've yet to see a track day on a weekend, and I work full-time in a position which can't really be abandoned to go ride my bike on a track. Also, most of the track days I've looked into make it clear that they don't allow inside passing, and generally exist so guys can just go have fun. I like fun, but I'm more interested in racing. I can ride fast around corners and hit near top speeds on the streets/highways if that is all I was looking to do. A couple of track days would be a must for someone completely new to going fast and dragging a knee, but I think I'm ready to race with the novices. I've been to Loudon and have seen how fast those guys are going and I am confident in my abilities. That's not to say that I think I'm going to be faster than anyone else. I could quite possible get my ass kicked on my first few ventures onto the track, in fact that is what I expect to happen, but that is all part of learning. Hope that is enough of an answer!

That is how I did it. You seem to have your head on straight. I think you will do well. If you do make it to the October event look for me #316 in the infield near T1.

why you guys giving him such a hard time? look at all the new racers this year with no prior track experience? they finished maybe 1/2 of their races. see you in grid next year

Good luck at the races Brian.....as smutty said, you seem to have your head on straight, sounds like you know your stuff too...I don't aspire to race and just started trackday this year...I tell ya, it takes practice to learn the track layout...how to tackle those corners and then add other bikes into the mix...but that's me....still a newbie at sportbikes...I'm sure others will chime in about inside passing at trackday....I think you could do this in the advanced group.....I just bumped up to intermediate last trackday......and about my sig...I'm just a fan of William Wallace...

    Clearly you missed one.

Not giving you shit whatsoever. Honest questions and curiosity however I do feel at least some prior track time would be beneficial to all who are gridded with you, yourself inlcuded.

Either way, good luck and enjoy the lean angle addiction.
