New to the forum but not to two wheels

Hey all, my name is Kyle I'm from Danvers MA. I'm currently a college student and work a part time job. I ride a silver and black 2003 gsxr1000, I bought it last year bone stock with a whopping 1000 miles on the clock. currently it has a yosh tri-oval pipe, Ivan's timing retard eliminator, Braking wave rotors, along with a set of good old dunlop qualifiers. my previous rides include a 95 gsxr1100 along with many dirt bikes. Is it summer yet?

TRE typically removes the timing retard in the lower gears giving more power off the line...and has nothing to do with top end.

It tricks the bike into thinking it's constantly in 5th gear, one of the only gears it gets full timing in. On the gsxr timing is retarded in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd along with 6th at the 186 limiter. So yes as Frankenstein said it gives the bike more throttle response /a little bit more power in the lower gears. It just so happens it also gets rid of the 186 limiter.

I see... Last time I did a TRE mod was on a bike that couldn't hit the limiter in 6th anyway (TLS).

Kyle, doesnt the Ivan's TRE make your gear indicator say 5th gear no matter what gear you're in? I'm actually getting the speedohealer, and their gear indicator with advanced TRE for my GSX-R in a month.

How do you like your TRE? does it make it noticably smoother?

The bike definitely woke up in the first few gears. It gained instant throttle response and got rid of the jerk/fall on its face feeling in open close throttle situations. As far as the gear indicator thing the 03's don't have it like the new gsxr's so i can't say. Overall I'm pleased with the Ivan's piece and would spend the money again if i got rid of this bike.

I've watched Mark do a couple of those TRE mods. Sooo simple (and CHEAP if you have him do it. I'd much rather have his hands in my bike than some dude named Ivan )

thanks Kyle. I think I might get the speedohealer's one anyways just because it hass a gear indicator on it which will be helpful when i need to slow down and forget what gear i'm in. made that mistake a few times this season.

You must mean the 6.8 ohm resistor for the 03 model .

You can then go from wimpy to whack .
