    Future New England resident

Hey all, just doing an intro here. I got referred to NESR today by another member on Sportbikes.net. Just got an offer today for a job in South East Connecticut so I will be moving in a few weeks.

    Little bit about myself:
Started on a Ninja 250 in January of 09.

Had that till September of that same year when I bought a Daytona 675:

Had that until very end of September this year when it caught fire on me while riding back from class. Put 15k on it in the year I had it including 3 trips to Deals Gap, 1 trip to Maryland, and 1 trackday at NJMP:

Parted it out and have been bikeless since. Lookin to pick up another bike shortly after I move and do some trackdays at Loudon and NJMP.

Oh, and after I move I may be pestering some of the members to do photoshoots of their bikes as I'm into photography as well.

User error. On the Daytona 675's, the Regulator/Rectifier is a common problem to die. I replaced it with one from a CBR 600RR and my connections were not as solid as they should have been. I also did not solder the connections. Got an electrical short after putting 1400 miles on that weekend during a very wet and cold Deals Gap trip at the end of September and it caught fire the next day on the way home from class. Stupid mistake, but I thought I had it all connected up solidly enough and you live and learn, I guess.

I'm partial to RI, myself. Course I've only been to Maine and New Hampshire once when I was very little and I haven't been to Vermont yet. We used to vacation in Cape Cod/RI every year

There were/still are several hundred engineering jobs, actually. I took merely one of them.

    Hi and welcome to NESR

I just have a quick question, how come there's no smoke from the picture of your bike on fire? Or steam after they put it out?

Not sure. It was smoking when I was riding back from class though. That's what alerted me to the fire. I was at a stoplight and I saw white smoke coming out. I shut it down and pushed it to that side street and was going to push it to my apartment from there since it was only 1 block away, and while I was pushing it I noticed small flames coming out.

They are also very low res shots from a camera phone standing probably 20 feet away. Pretty much everything electrical under the tank got torched as well as the airbox, fuel line, and fuel pump. It made more financial sense to total it, buy it back from the insurance company and part it out. I was also moving in another 2-3 months and was swamped with school work so I didn't want to buy another one.

I've since moved temporarily to San Diego where I am now while I was looking for a job. Not having a bike is killing me at the moment.

Welcome. Always happy to hear of people that may be joining us at the track! Good to hear you're good with the camera as well. I, personally, suck horribly at it and never carry a camera besides the one in my phone, but I love good bike pron. Especially when it's from the track!

I was adoring the "custom paint" on the frame until I saw the fire truck in the next picture! LOL.

The best advice I’ve ever been given is to not forget where you came from.

Yeah, it doesn't look real, but unfortunately I got some scorched parts left to prove that it's real.

Looked relatively ok afterwards from the outside:

But as soon as you lift the tank, you see a jumbled mess of wires all melted and burned:

Luckily I had a lot of good parts left so I've actually made more money than I put into the bike by parting it out.

Welcome to the forum. I have a few coustins that went to VA Tech. It's not exactly near the school, but I used to go down to Falls Church VA to visit em every year as a kid. Nice area for sure.
