Just a short note as requested in the automated email from "Frankenstein"...
I'm a transplant to MA from NY about 16 years ago, but have been very active in the Motorcycle Scene here in New England since then...
I've been riding for about 33 years now and am an avid long-distance rider. If I have to dismount more than every couple of hours, I get antsy... Gas stops of 10 minutes are an eternity to me... I've completed several Iron Butt rides, although I haven't certified them all - mostly because I don't plan them...
On my time off the saddle, I'm still very active in motorcycling including proudly serving as the current Safety & Education Director for the MMA (Massachusetts Motorcycle Association -- I was the Legislative Director in 2008/2009) and the MA State Representative for the MRF (Motorcycle Riders Foundation). Motorcyclist Rights is very important to me since I'm regularly watching people who don't ride try to take our lifestyle away from us.
I spend many of my weekends standing around in Parking Lots teaching others to ride -- I've been a MSF Instructor for several years now and also act as a site manager for one of MA larger rider education schools.
While it may seem that doesn't leave me time for riding, I still manage over 10,000 miles under my seat every year, much of that with my HOG chapter, for which I'm currently the Safety Officer and Road Captain, but also served as the Director for the first 5 years of the chapter's existence. I've also served as Registration Coordinator for the MA/RI State HOG Rallies and led long-distance rides for Harley's "Million Mile Monday".
Although I've ridden primarily Harleys over the years, I've owned and ridden several other brands and frankly don't care what you ride as long as you're wearing a smile while doing it and not making the rest of us look bad through your actions...
Here's looking forward to some great dialog and interesting reading!
