    nilez intro

whats up guys. I'm 21, live in Groveland, MA right near Haverhill. I'm currently riding an '02 Honda CBR F4i w/ a bunch of aesthetic mods, a Hindle high mount slip-on, a PC III usb, K&N air filter, black vortex sprockets (1 tooth down in the front), and a gold 520 DID chain for performance mods. Getting tired of the 600 tho and looking for an R1 right now. I'm starting my senior year at UMass Lowell, almost done with that bullshit. I am involved with the Marine Corps but it wouldn't be right to say that I'm in the Marine Corps right now. I've done two summers of training in Quantico, VA aka HELL on EARTH. Once I graduate school in May '08 I'll commission O-1 (2nd Lt.) and go active duty in the USMC. Looking to fly helicopters, hopefully the v-22 osprey tilt rotor bird that just came out if anyone knows anything about what i'm talking about... if not, just nod and say 'cool.' If you wanna know anything, PM me or whatever. Peace.

It wouldn't be right to say anyone's a Marine unless you've left Parris Island after 14 long weeks with a High and Tight.......

You said you trained at Quantico? Did you do training type stuff for the summer as an "Introduction to Marine officer school type thing or were you going through OCS? OCS can be a pain in the ass but from what I'm told (I've only been to Parris Island) from people I served with and know them both intimately, OCS has nothing on enlisted boot camp...

Oy .. I hope they work out all the bugs before you hop in the cockpit. There's a reason they're short on pilots for those birds. They don't seem to land gently or where they were supposed to ...

haha, sorry everyone for not responding, i haven't checked this thread since i posted it, didn't think anyone would actually comment on it.

to answer your question naked-daytrader, yes I graduated OCS this summer(July 6th). I don't commission until i graduate school next May (2008). I'll throw this out there not in hopes to gain brownie points but just to validate my involvement in the Corps, I considered enlisting first and finding something in the 03XX line of work. But ever since I was kid I wanted to fly (maybe I like speed or something, that could be the reason I have a bike too), and in the Marine Corps only officers fly (with a few WO exceptions). So I went the OCS route instead. Not to get into a pissing match about who's time was tougher at PI vs. Quantico, but from what I've heard from priors who were in both of my platoons each summer, they said the mental aspects of Quantico don't even compare to PI in terms of being treated like junkyard dogs, so enlisted have the f*ck-f*ck games a lot more hardcore. But in terms of physical fitness training and stresses Quantico is more difficult. Now I've only been to Quantico, and you've only been to PI, so all our info is based on hearsay, so we'll leave it how it is, how's that? regardless of status, Semper Fidelis

and yes Cheese-gsxr the bugs have been worked out of the v-22's. The avionics have been re-done and some wiring faults have been fixed. IMO it's a sick bird and it'll be around for decades, and I'm not going to be surprised when they start offering tiltrotor gunships.

and to wrap up this long-winded post that probably no one is going to read again anyway, I figure I ought to update my current ride since I just bought Ejoy's 2004 Yami shift red R1... So glad I made the switch from a 600 to a 1000.

Pissing match...? Pissing match...? Come on! That's what it's all about! Who had it worse OCS guys or Parris Island guys...or Parris Island Marines to San Diego Marines? What unit was tougher etc etc..Ya gotta have those pissing contests, hell that's what the Corps is all about....hahaha. Just getting to be a Marine is tough enough. I wouldn't be a good Marine unless I gave an officer (Officer-to-be) shit about how much of a cake walk OCS was...We'll agree to disagree! The important thing is you joined the Corps and not the Army, Navy or Air Force....Right? I always equated the banter in the Corps with having a big brother. We beat the shit out of each other much like an older brother would. When it's time to beat up on someone else (Navy, Army etc) then we stand together ...hee hee. Congrats on the R-1. It's a great bike, and it was the last one I had before I bought my Ducati. All told I've had 5 Yamaha's they're just great motorcycles. We definitely have to ride together sometime. PM me whenever you want to get together. I'm usually good for a few hours a few times a week.

    Semper Fi bro.

PS: Have you been "AXE Qualified" yet?? Also, when you get out in the fleet and to your duty station don't let someone send you across the base to retrieve a box of grid squares and some flight line...

In regards to the Armed Forces I have but one statement to make:

If someone in the Army,Navy or Air Force wanted to join the MArine Corps they would have to go through Marine Corps boot camp, however if a Marine wanted to join the Army Navy or Air Force they do not need to attend anyone of those respective Boot Camps.......

    Now that's saying something.......

Ya, that's the whole point of Boot Camp my friend. A disciplined soldier doesn't die as easy in combat......that's the truth.

Let me ask you something Oreo.

If, hypothetically speaking, a country invaded the US (Fat chance I know, but just follow me here for a moment and I'll make a good point) would you want someone who was trained correctly to kill (and perhaps a little brainwashed to die for his country) or would you want someone who wasn't trained as well and was willing to run away?

All the Armed services Army, Navy, Air Force are allowed to retreat....the Marines do not retreat and are trained to stand and fight.

Ok enough about this, I could go on all night and I don't want to piss anyone off with my "VERY STRONG BELIEFS" about the Marine Corps, I am after all brainwashed to love the Corps.......hee hee

haha, naked-daytrader i got your back, i'm just not as tenacious up front about it. I'll PM you when I find some time to ride, I might have some this weekend, but I may not either, haha, so I'll keep you posted.

and oreogitorio... FIRST of all, you mispelled marines, it's Marines and two, I don't know if I'm going to consider bringing the beast to Lauden, I'd be short shifting the whole time... that and I think I'm too pussy to risk laying down my new bike... how about that motorized scooter of yours??? I'll drag knee on that puppy anyday!

    ok....

FIRST of all, YOU misspelled Loudon.... it's... well... Loudon

Second of all, you can do a whole track day in 3rd gear on that bike & have a blast.

Lastly, don't be a pussy, Marine! Track days are like fun street rides... but w/o the sand... the sticks... the animals... the cops... the traffic... the boring roads... the angry neighbors... the intersections... the side streets... the driveways....

    shall I go on?

my point is, people ride their prized posessions at Loudon every track day. I've done thousands of laps around NHIS on my street bike & haven't crashed it once up there. If you're courageous enough to own an R1 as a street bike (I'm not) you're courageous enough to ride it on the track and hone your skills in a safe environment. Frankly, I think track days should be mandatory for sportbike owners, espeically literbike owners... but I'm biased

But if you wanna ride my go-ped, by all means, knock yourself out (literally! the thing's got no brakes! )

Damn Nilez.........he's calling you out. Unfortunetly I was kinda thinking the same thing.....don't be a pussy...haha...JK.

Allot of people worry about dumping their new bike on the track and it discourages them from doing a track day (listen to me...the expert now) but if you ride your own level you don't have to worry about it. No one's going to make you drive at insane speeds on the track, enough so where you'll crash. However, I will say this from my experience riding track (oh so very long ago). You do get caught up in the competitiveness of it and that could lead to you riding above your level. If you keep a cool head though, you should be good.
