Hi everyone, my name is Aidan. I live in San Francisco but am moving at the end of the summer to attend Harvard. I originally grew up in Western MA but did no riding there...I only started when I moved to the Bay Area and so east coast riding will be new to me. Anyone notice any differences between the two areas, aside from the obvious worse weather? Like attitudes, etiquette, etc. I know that lane sharing is legal only in CA so that is going to take some getting used to. I am wondering if that extends to walking the bike through stopped lanes of traffic at a light? Please say that is allowed in MAanyways I ride dirt and street, but sold all my dirt bikes in preparation for the move. Right now I just have my trusty Rebel 250 commuter that I'll be using to get around New England.
The only advice I can give you is to expect the unexpected. See, the sad thing about a guy like you is in 50 years you're gonna staht doin some thinkin on your own and you're gonna come up with the fact that there are two certaintees in life. One, don't do that. And Two, you dropped two hundred and fifty grand on a fuckin education you coulda got for a dollah fifty in late chahges at the public library.
Support the Troops! (Except for Mondo, that guy's a dick)

no lane sharinghmmmm... pretty sure you can ride side by side w/ another bike in the same lane... seeing as how I do it with the motorcycle cop in town every now and then

You cannot speed, you cannot lane split, you cannot move to the front, you cannot park perpendicular to the curb (in Boston), you cannot park betwen the cars...etc.

That's right, back to a 2 cylinder, 3 cylinder, and a 4 cylinder.
But I will have a degree, and you'll be serving my kids fries at a drive through on our way to a skiing trip.
Seriously though, no parking between cars or perpendicular to the curb?? Maybe this is an obvious question but does that mean I have to take up a full space and park parallel to the curb?
Damn...in SF we just park between cars at meters and no one cares.
Calm down there skippy..........having a degree does not determine your propensity to success. I have friends that never got their degree and are making six figures and have a very promising future. I wouldn't make that generalization.

I know how stupid my initial comment was. See below please:Calm down there skippy..........having a degree does not determine your propensity to success. I have friends that never got their degree and are making six figures and have a very promising future. I wouldn't make that generalization.

The sad thing is, in about 50 years
you might start doin' some thinkin'
on your own and by then you'll realize
there are only two certainties in
life.
CLARK
Yeah? What're those?
WILL
One, don't do that. Two -- you
dropped a hundred and fifty grand on
an education you coulda' picked up
for a dollar fifty in late charges
at the Public Library.
Will catches Skylar's eye.
CLARK
But I will have a degree, and you'll
be serving my kids fries at a drive
through on our way to a skiing trip.
WILL
(smiles)
Maybe. But at least I won't be a
prick.
(beat)
And if you got a problem with that,
I guess we can step outside and deal
with it that way.
While Will is substantially smaller than Clark, he [Clark]
decides not to take Will up on his [Will's] offer.
WILL
If you change your mind, I'll be
over by the bar.

sup...yea in VT we do what we want... like park on sidewalks for our weekly bike night for example...cops are generally cool about us out and about...generally (what other state can you get a warning going 72 in a 40?)...so basically you are moving to a lesser NE state...
VT: better views, better roads, nicer laws, and more hippie college chicks...can't go wrong...not that I have anything against MASS, it 's just, well, we all know-
