Cool Noob rider from Johnson, VT

Hey, i'm mike. just got my 1st bike yesterday (yamaha XV920RJ). still gotta learn to ride, but thought this would be a good place to pick up some opinions on parts and ryding styles first. i am WAY open to any advice on anything...drop me a message if you got any tips or tricks to teach a noob.

I got the bike for FREE on craigslist.com (WOOT!!! ~got wicked lucky~) and there are only a few problems with it: front fork seals, carb boot, needs the rear tire re-sealed, needs a new selinoid, and i have a small gas tank leak. (could use jb weld? replace? reg. weld? i dunno) also if anybody can paint, i want a small job done on the finished product tank.

    Mike

Hey Mike, There are a couple guys from your area on here, we call them the Ginger twins. I am sure they will chime in.

As for advice, please do not seal your tire. Post up the size and maybe someone has something for you.
Depending on the leak you may be able to seal the inside of the tank with POR15 or some other product like that. The other stuff sounds pretty easy.

Doc, he lives with GT2, and we used my truck and trailer to GET the bike to his house. Haha.
To clarify on the tire, what it looks like is the bead didn't seat right on the rear rim.
The bike itself is a 1982

Welcome. Since you already know the Ginger Twins, you'll have access to the wider resources of this community through them. I'm sure plenty of folks will be happy to help out. And come to Bike Night, even if you have to cage it at first.
