Hi, my name is Brett and I'm a speedaholic from the Albany NY area. Been a rider for 35ish years. Treated myself to a new Ducati 1198 in April and it got the blood flowing again and returned to racing and track days this summer after a 20 yr hiatus from the track. I trackday the duc and a pretty well set up SRAD750, and race and track a 2003 R6.I have a multitude of assorted street and dirtbikes along with some atvs including a custom framed kz1137 with blaster plastics. Will post some pics when time allows.
I see lots of pics on the interweb of sportbike ice racing but cant find any info about where it might be going on. Is anyone in the NE area doing it?
LRRS #182? Sunuvabitch! Did you steal my race number????
Welcome to the forum, Brett.
(and yes, I know you didn't steal it... not unless you got your racing license back in 07 or 08 and didn't mention it)

So Brett, who do you normally ride with on the track? How often do you go? I assume you USED to race back in the day?

Thanks for the welcome, and why yes, I am an asshole (just ask my girl!) Back when I was a pup(late80's) I raced Willow until a tbone made my knee bend 180 degrees beyond its factory steering stopand had me looking at the bottom of my right boot. By the time I recovered I had moved back east and other than the few Loudon races, there wasnt much going on to build another race bike. during that time I owned an assortment of used sportbikes and this april decided to treat myself to a new 1198. I would have been just fine but In a Ducati promo I got a track day with Doug Polen at Monticello! I was so f**kin hooked AGAIN! And I still had the heart. The Ducati brakes are amazing and Polen yelled at me repeatedly that I was gonna wreck my new bike because I was braking way late and way deep, then pushing the lean angle too far for my street tires.
Concerned about wrecking my new Duc, I bought a 2003 R6 built and at one time raced (forgot the name) at loudon to go racing with. The trackdays are great but when in doubt in a pass situation, I am a gentleman so we can all go home with our bikes. I kinda dig the adrenaline rush of a tight corner pass (if I show him/her my wheel!). Not sure how competitive this bike will be but it will see me thru my novice races. I bring it to track days along with the duc. Got so p*ssed on the Monti 66 about getting behind a parked couple bikes in the corner and then hitting the straight so they could show me they were on a literbike! My gopro shows some pretty stupid off line late/deep braking to overcome the 160/135 straight speed difference. Then lunch time I pull out the duc, problem solved!
I will be trying to race the entire LRRS season. I have a HUGE supply of oil cooled Gixxers and parts and an 89 860cc fits in thunderbike, and it sounds very tempting. Any opinions or suggestions would be appreciated.
Meanwhile, anyone want to do some iceracing on sportbikes? what great off season practice! $100 worth of screws/nuts/washers and some old tires. Start a club, chip in for gas for whoever has a plowtruck, maybe travel to different lakes? I bet if we had a dozen guys the AMA flat track iceracers (dirtbikes) would love to have use set up a track and do a demo race for their fans. I have talked to plenty of people say they would love to do it if there was a place to race. If nothing else you KNOW we would end up a huge hit on youtube!
Gonna be doing some pitbike Ice "Racing" over here in Vermont this winter. Come on over.![]()

Lol. actually read doc's ongoing thread about the pitbike racing! I actually have a crf80 needing some engine work and your thread got me interested in fixing it and locating race tires for corner carving. Great training tool.
Miss on you pister, go back off in your own jackyard! No ,I'm dot nyxlesic!!!
