New RC51 guy from central MA

    Hello everyone.

Figured I'd sign up at some point as I've been pointed to this site by tons of customers. I do ecu mapping and custom tuning for most modern cars as sidework and first thing in the spring I will be working on assisting locals with PCIII's and other custom dyno tuning.

I have a 2004 RC51 RVT1000, Nicky Edition with plenty of mods. I bought this bike bone stock with 4000miles in March from a local guy who didn't know what it was.

I have learned quite a bit about this bike and r&d that I want to share with others on this site.

Also me and the guys I live with have similar bikes too and always ready to ride

Kb was one of those guys after the 10th time hearing about this site realizing it's about time to sign on - look forward to meeting everyone. I am usually so busy with cars that I neglect my bike

Welcome to the site! Always good to have another mapper.

Now that 3rd pic just proves misery loves company

I should know, I used to own a pig er.. TLR along with a buddy so we could complain about them together.

FINALLY someone worth welcoming!! We should ride (next summer) as I had to pull my RC apart for a radiator leak.

I hear ya here it's a love/hate thing. I had newer inline bikes before (600rr). I prefer the nature of this bikes. As far as it's shortcomings most people complain about - I beleive I have assessed all the ones that personally bother me.

-adjusting the factory suspension front and rear, shim the rear
-always too hot. engine ice and factory fans on manual switch at 190 degrees.
-factory tires to michelin pilot sports
-custom tuned pc3r (with timing control)
    -front sprocket
    -and most importantly aftermarket seat

only thing I'm missing is stainless lines to get rid of the crappy factory brake feel.

I say do it. I came from a bike like yours and will never look back.

its not the power of the bike, its the response and the weight of the bike that's not for every buddy. As far as a straight line bike its probably as fast as a modern 750. It's just the way the power comes in that could be sneaky. I've had wheelies and rolling burnouts come out of nowhere at lower rpms.

I waited for a few yrs before riding my buddies TLR thinking the same thing.. after the first ride I sold my 600 and got a TLR.

The RC's and other big twins really are a love/hate thing.. theirs no gray area with them. I loved my TLR for a couple yrs until the sheer weight of the bike became hindering to my 'fun factor'.
