Not ridden one, but have checked it out up close at the last two Progressive bike shows. It looks to be a quality piece with good fit and finish, and would likely make a good first bike or commuter. It's made in India (as are the little KTMs) if that matters to you. It's also a thumper and therefore, to my ear, sounds like a weed whacker. But that's just me and if it were the right bike I'd get over that prejudice.

However, given the competition in the low-end segment (e.g. mini-hooligan Duke 390, the new Ninja 400 that's getting rave reviews, maybe the really nice new retro CBR300R if they ever bring it here) there may well be more compelling choices in the same bracket.

BMW dealers are unmatched when it comes to ease of test rides. Give your nearest dealer a call and if they've got one, go check it out. I think the nearest one to you is Max BMW, in North Hampton.

seems crap tastic. any time a premium maker tries to make something inexpensive its a colossal piece of shit. (basing this on my experience in the car world) just because you can buy a new bmw or Mercedes for honda accord money does not mean you should.

I think I'd just get the Versys 300. That's a cool little bike.

Just read an [old] review in Rider. They stated the suspension is above average for this class of bikes, ditto brakes, and feels larger than it is. Stainless steel brake lines, 4 pot 300mm front and two channel ABS.

Cruised no problem at 75mph. Made under contract by TVS in India.

Yankee Beemers has a breakfast tomorrow, I’ll see if anyone has one. Temp is supposed to be in the teens so I doubt anyone will ride there (Mendon) too far.

Thinks it the minimum to be a fun bike

We just bought a CB500F ABS for my wife and daughter. Installing center stand, 12V plug, OEM heated grips and a Puig windscreen this week. Really a nice bike, 30.7” seat height, 423 lbs with full tank.
