I am all for it, plus it gives you fantastic stuff to use for target practice.
It is actually a horrible way to get rid of varmint. A single 50 BMG round costs just under $4.40. I can think of much cheaper ammo to get rid of rodents with, such as .22 LR. That stuff is about $0.05 per round if you buy in bulk. Or you could have a bit more fun with 5.56 at roughly $0.50 per round.

Seriously... This is a graphic reminder of just what a .50 round can do.

I have a hard time believing its actually a 50cal round. Ive witnessed what 50cal rounds do other 'things', and just splitting a groundhog or whatever those were isnt quite messy enough. You shouldnt be able to find anything after if it was actually hit by a 50. And the divet in the ground isnt very big.

Hey Nikon. A .22 doesn't reach out far enough to be effective. Those little rodents will hide before you get close enough. .223's and 22-250's are the most popular choices. Now I'm not saying if I had a .50 I wouldnt be using some incendeary tracers on those bastards.

That was actually me that suggested .22, not Nikon (my avatar is confusing, but I like it).

I was not aware of how far away from these little fuckers you need to be so that they don't run and hide. Still, .50 is just a bit much. Maybe one or two, but that gets expensive really quick.

Ha I only saw the pic. I also know Will has the donut badge avatar I just wasn't paying attention.

200 yards or more are common, but a lot of prarrie dog hunters like to see how far they can hit one. They also try for doubles which are even more fun and would average the cost out significantly.
