I get it, I am plenty jaded.

But if were to forget, I am afraid the specter of terror & wars will continue to visit us.
At a Remembrance ceremony from a town of 19000 only a handful made it. Most were 35 years and over, some school kids dragged by their parents.

It's still very important to me. I went to a memorial service on Friday and took my daughter to see a piece of the steel that's in our town. Don't think I made much headway explaining it to a 5 year old but I'd be proud if she answered that she was taught about it when it comes up in history.

I was 13 years old at the 20th anniversary of 12/7, there was no fanfare, we didn't hold grudges against the Japanese, and it was in our history books we studied in school, and was much more devastating

The Japanese aren’t still engaged in a holy war against us.

if there is ONE thing we need to remember and implement from that day, in my humble opinion, its the following words:
"Everyone who can stand, stand now. If you can help others, do so." - the man in the red bandana Welles Crowther

You’re quite the character Randy. I doubt the families who lost their loved ones feel the same.
    Actually, I’m sure they don’t.

Maybe because we killed a few hundred thousand of them in 2 days and essentially imprisoned the American ones for no reason?

    Apples and oranges.

    Re: 9/11 Remembrance Day

Remembering the shitshow circus that unfolded that day, and remembering life/death decisions that were made is about as far as I take it. I never bought into the "Never Forget" and "We Are United" brainwashing mantra. History remembers but ordinary people can not. There was a video in 2010, I can't find it on youtube, but it had someone stopping people in the streets of New York and asking them about the 9/11 day. Many had what year it happened wrong, and some even said that bombs took down the towers. They never forgot but they certainly can't remember it right.
