Stereo
Bike
help! I'm either gonna spend about a grand on a dirt bike, or the same $$ on a truly sweet home stereo (axiom M22Ti main speakers, a kickass yamaha reciever my friend's dad is selling me cheap and a yet-to-be-determined sub), if it were you, which would YOU buy?
(and don't tell me to get what I want, 'cause I haven't figured that out yet...)![]()

Which reciever?
I have a yamaha reciever (795a?) and I love it. They are one of a very few companies that make recievers that can drive 4 or 6 ohm speakers, and they seriously underrate the power. No buyer's remorse at all there. As long as I don't have to replace it for another 6-7 years or so.

Get the bike. when it's get shity out you can still go out and ride. Practice your wheelies .![]()

I voted for the stereo, only because that's what I'd do if I had a choice between the two.![]()

There is always room in the garage for another bike. Besides a stereo just sits there and becomes another item to clean and dust off. A dirt bike is supposed to be dirty.
by both.![]()
"fuckit!"
I'm with need4speed on this one get the bike, lots more fun just make if a four and put plates on it![]()
I voted for the bike.
funny thought: I bet if you logged into a stereo bullitenboard and asked, they'd say get the bike too.

I'd get a complete set of race plastic and rear sets for my race bike. Or even a complete Yosh exhaust for it...
Oh, wait. What were the choices again?![]()
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
Okay. If I were you, I'd seriously consider spending that cake on getting a second set of plastic and a spare (gas) tank for your streetbike, and find me a really inexpensive set of leathers. Then I'd do ALL the trackdays I could get my slimy paws on...
I know it's not wunna YOUR choices. But maybe you should toss that into the fray too....![]()

I'd like to do a trackday, but I'm not really up to it yet, and I'm not sure it's a good idea for me to blow a lot of cash on race stuff when I don't even know if it's something I'm gonna want to get into. Maybe next summer though.... hmm, decisions...
Matt, dude. You're plenty ready for track days! A track day is not a race day. You do track days to enjoy and explore the limits of you and your machine, not to wad your bike. You'll seldom find such an outlet that'll allow you the freedoms of a track day. And if done right, you won't place in yourself in any jeopardy regarding the safety of you and your bike. It's very controlled, and it's worth every cent you spend on it...
I'm not trying to bastardize your thread here. Just trying to give you another outlet to spend your cake that may just change everything about the way you ride and enjoy our sport...![]()

I wanna buy from somewhere like newenough.com, but I don't know what size to look for... (you MIGHT have convinced me jay, maybe I'll drop my $$ on a new arai and leathers...)

Matt,
Go to Brockton Cycle and try on a few 1 or 2 piece suits to get an idea of how they fit . Then check out newenough for deals during the off season.

Yip. Go to Brockton or Moto Market to try shit on. Also, if you go to New Enough's website, they have links to each manufacturer's sizing charts. New Enough also tells you which manu's run large or small and tell you how they fit...
Go have yourself a look see....![]()

You can also go to Seacoast Sport Cycle Aprilia. They stock the full IXS line of leathers both 1 and 2 peice. They are in Salem NH>
Now that we've added another choice for ya I'd have a problem deciding between upgrading myself (track day gear) and the dirt scoot. I'd probably get the dirt scoot, you got some good riding up in your neck of the woods. As for the tunes, I keep tellin' myself to upgrade my system but always spend it on something else when the cash comes around, so I'd guess it would be ignored too if I were making yer decision.

$1000 dirt bike will require a whole lot of work and money to keep running. Stereo will last forever with no further expense unless you live in a high crime area or really blast Green Day all the time (which ruined my old Phase Linear amp). I'd get the leathers and do some track days.
