Auto body fix - advice needed

I'm a dope and punched a small hole with the tongue coupler of my trailer in the rear plastic bumper of my Mazda 3. I'll say up front that I have next to zero body work experience. I can't see a way to pull this back to shape and bondo the scar without removing a little plastic first. This doesn't have to be a perfect fix and I'm mostly interested in just keeping water out of it. Any suggestions?

They sell repair kits with screen and glass reinforced filler. There are many excellent YouTube videos. You can drill holes in the deformed plastic to help give a better mechanical bond.

But honestly I'd get some tape that's close in color and just cover it for now. Because during "trailer season" it might happen again. The Sprinter doesn't have a backup camera so I zonk it regularly.

If you choose to fill it make sure you get the right filler. It needs to be flexible... more so that standard bond-o. 3M, Bond-O, etc sell kits specifically for plastic bumpers.

Bondo may work on metal panels, but I'm not sure it's going to last long on a flexible plastic bumper. It might be less effort and similar cost to buy a used bumper.

I'm not sure water entry will matter much there. Probably need to watch a youtube of bumper removal to be sure, but I'd bet it just drains right out the bottom. Pop the 'tab' out instead of in and barely anything's getting in anyway.

There's not much you can do that'll fix it and last and look good. You can try popping the entire cover off (surprisingly easy) and pressing the broken bit out after adding some epoxy. Theres nothing behind it that matters if it gets wet. Or grab one from a junkyard and swap.

What's the difference between a bolt and a screw?
First you screw, then you bolt.
