    Auto Cad systems

I want to design homes, I'm planning on going back to school for formal training, but I want to do stuff at home before starting. Could I get a simple install cheap just to mess around with it, or do I have to go all out and spend major cake to get it going???

look or student versions of stuff. Sometimes they still cost a pretty penny (like $100) but they're usually fully functional, but put a "student" stamp or some such stuff on any finished product. Better yet, find somebody who does this stuff already and try to score free software...

They used to have a student version program .... also developers versions years ago. I am not familiar at all with their architectural products, I have a hard time keeping up with their civil & land development & mapping products

I know, upgrades alone are from 800-1800. I know the print shop I goto still uses and old version and they can still print up from the new versions, it just cost an arm and a leg for 6 sheets. Randy do you survey??? And if so would you like to come to RI on me

Shouldn't be too hard to find but if you don't, ah, happen upon a copy in a few days, let me know, I know a recent MechE grad who owes me a favor.

Come to think of it, the bastard still hasn't returned my carb sticks

I've got the full most recent version and a hack for it. I also have autodesk inventor which is pretty cool. For florrplanning I'd use microsoft visio, That's some awesome software, and works great for floor planning and such.

I was an observer to some events that occured in a similar situation as the one above.
They are one place I wouldn't f with, they're worse then some government agencies.

I too have seen AutoDesk pirates prosecuted to the full extent of the law..... for using multiple seats on a one seat license.

The investigation up until that point is downright frightening too, and relentless is a good word for the legal proceedings too as you say.
That is one company that spends its earnings wisely, no doubt they have some smart forensic types under their roof.

unfortunately the cost of the software goes up due to all of this - putting it even farther out of someones grasp thats just trying to learn it
