top of the wall is soft.... the backing is not... it hit the top of the wall but ricocheted off the backing.

Ain't rocket science, but the commentators are dumb.

as much as I wanted it to be, IMO it wasn't a HR. Sure it hit the TOP of the wall, but it never completely left the field of play.

Otherwise, I'm w/ Sax... fox sucks, umps suck, bats are quiet.... But Beckett's got a NAAAASTY curveball tonight, eh?

EDIT: 4-1 (almost 5, but not quite far enough... sorry Papi

Well start listening to it on Saturday at noon until they finish the series

Did any one watch the last game of the regular season? Remy was absolutely cracking my up. He knew not many people would be watching and at one point he sounded like a father watching a little league game. Saying stuff like thats smart baseball there Pede fouling it of the catchers mask is gonna take his head out of the game and help the runner advance There was a bunch of other stuff but I was actually laughing out loud

Who cares? It's not like it's the end of the world. Manny is a first-rate jerk and a slob to boot.

I still can't believe Ortiz was able to score from first, and Manny only made it to first. I mean, it's only the play-offs and you're down 3 to 1. It's not like you need to move your ass or anything.

Do I wish Manny would hustle now and again? Of course. Is he the anti-christ that Buck and McCarver made him out to be? No way. Players dont hustle on fly outs any more, at least most of them dont. Was Lofton chastised for arguing with Beckett while the ball was in play? Of course not. They showed a replay of that on sportscenter this morning and theres no way he was moving any quicker than Manny. Is that a huge deal? No, cause it ended up being an out, just like Manny thought it was gonna be.

Yes, Manny's an idiot. That's Manny...

    DIVISIONAL SERIES: (THREE games)
    Avg: .375
    RBI: 4
    OBP: .615
    Slugging: 1.125 (Yes, that's ONE-point-ONE-TWO-FIVE)
    HR: 2

LEAGUE SERIES: (FIVE games so far)
    Avg: .471
    RBI: 8
    OBP: .609
    Slugging: .882
    HR: 2

    ENTIRE 2007 POSTSEASON TO DATE:
    Avg: .440
    RBI: 12
    OBP: .611
    Slugging: .960
    HR: 4

He's also hit safely in 15 straight postseason games and is among ALL-TIME leaders in postseason HR's and RBI. He's a postseason stud and a total hitting machine and run producer. Yes, he's an utter moron. But with the numbers he puts up CONSISTENTLY, year-after-year, I'll take ANYTHING he says with a grain of salt...

What about last night when he was doing the YMCA dance in the bullpen?? That was funny. Shades of the '04 idiots. I love it when the players bring some fun into the game and entertain the fans.

P.S Just my opinion, but Manny is dead right when he says "if we lose, it doesn't matter"

He isn't saying he won't try. He didn't get to be a pro player without drive, determination and effort. From what I have heard, he shows up early for practice, goes to all non-mandatory practice sessions. What he is saying is that he will relax (which you should if you want to play well) and try his best. If we don't win, no-one is going to die, no-one is going to be homeless and destitute because the Sox got knocked out.

    He didn't run because :

A: None of the top hitters run THAT hard any more.
b: If that ball was 2 feet nearer it would have been caught and 2 inches further it would have been a home run. Manny was assuming that he didn't NEED to run.

I have a big problem however with the IDIOT 3rd base coach who waved him on in the 1st. Manny didn't dive for the plate, but why would he when he was so obviously busted. I was watching and I hardly understand the game at all having never played it, but after my limited softball experience I would NEVER have passed 3rd in that situation. I saw the hit and said "cool, Manny on 3rd", then I see him rounding 3rd and heading for home with the ball in the air to the catcher. A little league team wouldn't make that mistake.

Someone said to me "yeah, but it's the playoffs, you have to go for it" ok, so every time you hit the ball, you just keep running all the way for home plate until you are tagged because, well, it's the playoofs. Dumbass. I don't blame Manny because he couldn't see the ball coming in, but I really wonder if the 3rd base coach should even be doing that job. Give the job to me, I could do it better.

    derek

That was actually a good move. Early on, already plated a run. Make THEM make a play. Momentums already on our side and early. If he gets thrown out, we've still struck first on their turf and we've exposed 'em. If he makes it, all that much more momentum and an even deeper exposure, they plate another run and the inning continues. That was no mistake. Theo & crew don't have slouches out there coaching & managing. They know exactly what they're doing...

However, Manny shoulda been watching the next batter motioning for him to hit the deck. I keep watching that over & over & over and I fully believe that a decent slide woulda plated another run and kept it alive...

I won't argue how much of an idiot he is. But the man IS a run producer and IS Mr. Offense. And given what he makes in relation to what someone of his caliber is making with a recently negotiated contract, he's a bargain - if only for another year. He's JUST the type of idiot they need right now...

    GO SOX --------->> w/o Manny

Manny doesn't give a rip about what we want, which is F&D as long as he doesn't get $$$$$$$$$$$ millions of fans money to be a burnt out pro athlete even if he hit .470 in the post season and set a rediculous example of what it is to be a pro athlete. Do we really want the kids (11-14 y.o.) in Maine playing LL ball and getting BJ's after emulating what this shit bag sets as an example. Oh wait, .... they are doing that even with out Manny's influence.

    bemused!

Yes, I called Manny a shit bag. Mostly because 99% of kids (and adults) will never make the kind of money Manny makes but they will however, be able to act like him, dress like him, and be a lazy shit bag like him, and rpolly never play ball like him.

I know He gives $$$ to funds and charity orgs. .... thanks Manny ...I wonder, did your finacial advisor tell you to do it? or, are you truely that generous?

Goes the same for the tendancy for affluent youth of today emulating what the slums of CA and the video era popularized: lazy, unkempt, drug doin, drug dealin, disrespectful, thugs doin what and who you want, killin anyone in the way of your pleasureful lifestyle.

Just because it happened and still happens doesn't make it right! EVOLUTION .....RIIIIGHT

I had never heard this one till I got to my current job, "it ain't braggin if you can do it", Ali Yeah yeah, I'm not a boxing fan. Ali and Manny are alike in a lot of ways ...just at opposite ends of the attitude spectrum.

Does it make any difference to rant about it? We allwant to see the BoSOX WIN! So, it really doesn't make a shit bit of difference because, WE in a way, support his lazy ass by buying tickets, shirts and paraphanalia to see the game and HE is a PART of it. Hopefully they WIN

    GO SOX!
