    Battery cores or recycling?

I have a ever-growing stash of old/bad batteries that I keep saving to use as cores. Problem is, I seem to keep buying batteries online, and throwing another one in the pile.

Anyone know if I can cash in on a core charge without buying a new battery? Or some way I can recycle them and make a few bucks?

    Re: Battery cores or recycling?

A couple years ago I brought 2 to Autozone/Advanced to see if I could return them there, I also had bought new ones online. I expected to have to pay a couple bucks to get them out of my garage, whatever. I ended up leaving with $10 store credit. Not sure if that’s what was supposed to happen but I didn’t ask any additional questions.

I’ve got 5 more in a pile in my garage, one of these days I’ll try again.

I actually have a few batteries myself. along with some other scrap. My GF took here school bus seats down to the Metal Farm (they are local and convenient not worth chasing for a few pennies, we're just trying to get rid of stuff without paying)

Metal Farm takes old dead computers too

Autozone will give you store credit.

I just dropped off a power wheels battery there last weekend.

They don’t give store credit for power wheels batteries. But they tried to.

Thanks guys. I think generally you get $10 towards your new battery when you bring in a core, but I'd be happy with a $10 credit somewhere if I wasn't buying a new battery. I'll call AutoZone before I load all these things in the truck.

Learned that AutoZone will give you $10 credit for a car battery, but not a bike battery. They'll give you a $10 core on a bike battery exchange, but not on just recycling an old one.

Advance Auto in Norwood gave me $10 store credit for a core even when I didn't buy a battery from them.

I do ALOT of battery recycling. I would never take a car battery back to a retailer. Always bring them to a scrapyard unless you donít have one close by.

When I get a handful of ATV/motorcycle/small engine batteries piled up, I put them at the end of the driveway and reach out to a local recycler.
