The problem with the V8 is it comes in the 4th gen....which is absolutely hideous.

That may be, but I am working on this third Gen with the 3.4, which by all accounts is a supremely durable engine.

Thing came with support bars but no crossbars and bases. Have some square Thule bars so need to see what I can use for bases.

On a Gen 3? Don’t seem to have room underneath for the metal strap.

Have a set of those used with an Outback Gen 3. But the Gen 3 4Runner rack base is flush.

Somewhere saw an upgrade kit with larger battery cables. Recommended?

Bought some Gen 5 17” takeoffs for summer tires. Michelin AT2 was almost $300 each and Nokian Rotiiva is back ordered.

Decided to try the new BF Goodrich Trail Terrain TA for mostly highway and very limited trail use. $196 each for 265/65x17.

I believe those came out recently. Not too many reviews on them just yet, be sure to post how you like 'em!

They were introduced September. BF Goodrich seems to be very competitive in that market segment.

Moot as they don’t make 265/65x17.

I was looking for a “just barely” All Terrain tire. Some of the serious tires are immensely heavy: up to 50 lbs. The BFG is heavier than I like at 34. The Rotiiva was under 30.

Wanted to install LED turn signals but the OEM flasher doesn’t work with them. Bought a well-reviewed flasher on Amazon for $11.

Installed today. The flasher is on the back of the fuse box so takes a little effort to get to. OEM flashers sell for $40 so perhaps I can sell the old one on eBay for a few bucks.

Video link doesn’t seem to work but LED is on left.

If u want to upgrade headlights. Try the morimoto megatron LEDs crisp , clean defined cutoff. Around 40$
I'll be upgrading mine from those to something from diode dynamics with ballast etc.

I might even have some spares if u want and ur the same bulb as me

Got the BFG’s mounted and they look like what we wanted. Should hold up OK on occasional rocky trails, without being noisy or hgh resistance. We didn’t need mud or snow traction. Surprised they have the 3P rating.
