After doing some quick checking around, Cheryl & I have decided to explore yet another move. Yes, it's true. We MAY be selling the infamous Stone Crib and looking to settle a bit closer to the track (NHIS). We've recently realized that our current house is worth more than double what we paid for it just a few short years ago. We've also realized that if we get what we're gonna ask for it, we can get about FIVE times the land and at least TWICE the house (square footage-wise), maybe more...
Lake front property in our area is becoming extremely desirable and extrememly difficult to come by. Especially something on a private lake like ours. Values right now are skyrocketting in our area, and property is moving rather quickly...
Yeah, I know summa you are gonna be heart broken. No more cruising on the lake getting lit and tubing. No more wading knee deep by our dock getting tanked. No more fishing from our back lawn. No more cruising to the beach and hanging out. And so on, and so on...
However, summa you are gonna be psyched too. The area we're looking at is about 10 minutes from the track, if that. Not to mention no more cheesy sleeping arangements. If we make this move, there'll be TONS of space to house everyone for the race weekends. And we'll also be about 30 minutes closer for all you travellers that often make the trek up to see us...
We're looking at Loudon right now due to the fact that it's NH's version of a boom town at this time. Property sales are brisk there, to say the least, and property values are quickly rising...
Living in Center Barnstead has been great. But it's not been without it's hardships either. The commute I can live with, but with this potential move it could cut that in half. Also of note is that there is no retail or REAL grocery 'sector' within 20 miles of us now which can make everyday living kinda tough, especially with an 11 year old and a 2 year old (both girls)...
We're just in the beginning stages of this now. Nothing is set in stone, and we may even decide to go back to our original thoughts of adding to our current home. But it's something we've been tossing around for a while now. And realizing how profitable this could be for us (real estate speaking), it may be hard to pass up...
This will NOT effect Stonnerstock in any way whatsoever! In fact, if we end up where we'd REALLY like to be, it could end up being a better situation for it...![]()

Okay. Yip! That's wunna the other things that makes living where we do difficult. Even our baby/dog sitting battalion is an hour away from us! We've done this for the past four years, and I truely love it where we are. But now we see this potential and we're starting to realize some significant things we'd like to change about our lifestyles. Funny how that works...

Go for it dude.. my bud down here is moving up to Maine.. transferred over to the line crew in Brunswick... if I had owned my house a couple years more I'd be thinking about it also.. but for now I'm staying where I am but I'm tossing the idea around of buying some land or a house up north somewhere (Maine, NH or possibly Vt) in the next couple of years, either to move or to use for hunting/fishing/vacations... either way if the time is good for you then DO IT...

what type of move are you thinking of making, land & new construction? or existing home on larger property? or are you still looking at both options, BTW, there are folks looking in Canterbury too, near north end of track, but prolly the same commute that you have from Barnstead.

We're starting to explore the possibilities of building new to insure that we get exactly what we want. I've heard a lot of horror stories when it comes to new construction. But I can be a real dick when I want (yes, it's true), so I'm not concerned with summa the experiences I've heard. But this WILL be our final move, and we won't settle for missing something or getting something we don't want...
Wood furnace w/ back up natural gas furnace. We want the furnace to be forced air so we can add central A/C too. Fireplace in the living room & master suite; FOUR bedrooms (hint, hint...yes, I'd like to sprout a boy next time), 2 (preferably 3) bathrooms, three car garage w/ loft, full walk-out basement w/ workshop (of course!); HUGE hot water supply (tankless?); a TON of windows (low E, argon filled vinyl); somewhere between 3-5 acres of land; house MUST be set back AT LEAST a coupla hundred feet; WE wanna landscape it; and so on, and so on...
Naturally, cost will dictate how much we'll end up deviating from the list...![]()

Correct me if I'm wrong: In NH, anything over 10 acres falls within NH's 'Land Use' ruling, correct? So potentially, a 10 acre lot COULD be less (in property taxes) than say, a 5 acre lot?
I'm stopping on my way home to look at a 14 acre lot. It's EXACTLY in the area we're interested in. I drove by it the other day, and it LOOKS like a nice, level buildable chunk. I'm curious about the 'Land Use' thang though...

Well the house I am wiring now is selling for 1,850,000 big bucks so I get lots of ideas. The 18 showerhead shower 5x10 foot size is a bit out of control but it sure looks like fun![]()
